Frankly, I DOUBT she has AS. She knows NOTHING about the climate!
Why do you doubt she has AS?

We've seen (on the TV) people rioting in Washington, but much more poignant was the sight of GT grimacing behind the back of DT, and for this she is my one and only hero/heroine, I cannot help but love her. I see her as an earnest person who deserves my full support and understanding as a fellow autist.

I think she's been discussed quite a bit on here because of her autism.

People dismiss her opinions because she is young. How could she possibly know anything?
People dismiss her opinions because she is idealistic. Her solution is incompatible with the capitalist, industrial soceity we've spent the last few centuries constructing.
People dismiss her opinions because she's female, or autistic or they can't believe they are her own, she must have been manipulated in some way.

Thing is, every time I've heard her speak she's made her points clearly and rationally, with reference to scientific evidence. She knows what she's talking about. She is often more across the detail and facts than whoever she is talking to, people who are paid to know this stuff like politicians and journalists. She is extraordinarily good at pricking the pomposity of people who are supposed to be ensuring the effects of climate change are effectively mitigated. She often does this with humour.

So I think she's a tremendous role model for young people, women and autistic people. If nothing else she has shown that young people can have a voice in politics, they have valuable additions to make to the debate. You can be young and serious. You are not completely at the mercy of old fogeys who have long given up on the notion that change is possible, just because they've never seen it or fought for it, or just don't want it because it inconveniences them.

Agreed!

I admire her greatly.

I think she really has her priorities straight, and should certainly be an opinion leader, if not a style leader. I think she "won the lottery" to become famous instead of just another weird kid. Kudos to her support dad. Fame is hard to handle even for gregarious NTs - I think she has done well to rise to the challenges of public life.

Anyone who instinctively pulls a face of utter disgust when confronted with Donald Trump, can't be all bad. :)

Unfortunately the problem with any activism is that it is emotionally motivated and this tends to limit thinking. That said, activism is very necessary. One of the paradoxes of being human.

Emotionalism over rationality is never a good thing.

Context:
Today's activists.

From what I have seen, many/most are celebrity-seeking narcissistic personality types.
Not saying this applies to GT.
And it doesn't surprise me any longer that many find wealth very rapidly after their show of virtue-signalling.

There are many millions of activists who have devoted themselves to making the world a more humane, decent, and livable place. A very tiny fraction of these are celebrities. Most just do what they can and work hard at it, for no money and often endangering themselves and sometimes putting up with being vilified. There is no glory in being an activist, and certainly no money.

I was an activist for many years, though I am no longer able to, most of my friends are activists. For absolutely no money or glory.

I was referring to the public face of activism, the people you see on the 5 o'clock news.
I am sure there are many who are sincere.

We have high-profile activists here in Australia, and they are cringe-worthy, and the ones I am thinking about have no respect for the Truth.
One of the worst that comes to mind revels in the public limelight.

The person's unjustified moral superiority is nauseating.
The person's disrespect of the Truth to further the person's ideological narrative is outrageous.
And the person's condescension towards the general public is infuriating.

Simply my opinion. 8)

Back in my day, activists were the "Tree hugger" type.
They were good meaning gentle ppl.
These days, many are violent in rhetoric if not in actuality, and have no respect for the rights of others.

Now, where is my super glue and a map of an arterial road?

I'm not sure where you get your facts. What you wrote is absolutely incorrect. Of course there are a few people, then and now, who behave inappropriately, but that in no way represents the vast majority of activists. (And in fact there were a (small) number of activists in the 1960s who engaged in dangerous and violent acts, like the Weather Underground for instance, but there have been none more recently.)

I found this:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=FqNJ90P1qpI

I do not listen to her. Don't care.
But I really like the psalm Den blomstertid nu kommer.

"- I wasn't used to so many people. So it was a huge adjustment to go from basically never meeting people, being in a class of five people, to being this person, walking in these marches, with all that that entails with people and sounds. So it has been very strange, but I can say that talking on such stages in front of hundreds of thousands of people is much easier than small talk, for me anyway, says Greta Thunberg in an interview with Morgonstudion in Sveriges Television." (Google translate)
https://sverigesradio.se/artikel/greta- ... pf-diagnos

I have actually heard people who said that small talk in a social situation with strangers is much easier than being on a stage like that. It is true. People have told me that.
I guess we are al different.
I myself would find the stage easier, I guess.

Greta is 20 now, BTW, and her Tweet in reply to Andrew Tate was in all ways epic (IMO)

Among Greta’s biggest fans are China, India and Russia.
