Who here wears glasses? Magic told me that he thought it was common for Aspies to wear glasses.

I wear glasses and have been since I was seven years old. I have never worn contacts and don't want to.

There was a discussion and a poll on this subject on the Aspergian Island: http://www.musicmademe.com/asp/viewtopic.php?t=228.
We also had glasses related discussion here: http://www.wrongplanet.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=432.
For the record, I wear glasses (since I was 12). I am nearsighted with astigmatism.

People who read a lot as a child generally need glasses. thats my theory. as a result, it makes sense for aspies to wear glasses.

I wear glasses full time. If I don't, I would constantly be smashing into walls and objects and goofy things like that.

I've been wearing glasses since February 1988. An eye exam was ordered by my doctor as it was one of the many explinations by my doctor as to why I was acting the way I did.

I've wear glasses full time now, but didn't need glasses til I was around my early twenties and back then I only needed them for close work. Now I need them all the time, and I'm only 39. My vision has only gotten worse in the past few years.

I wear glasses. I have since first grade. I am blind in my left eye. (the optical nerve is undeveloped; it's a birth defect) I have glasses that change in the sunlight to become darker. It prevents sunlight-induced headaches.

I wear glasses and have since I was 6 years old. I should have gotten bifocals last time round, but didn't. I'm going to have to get them next time. It's a real pain to have to take my glasses off to see things close up.

I probably read more than many of my classmates as a kid, but I didn't read that much. Asperger's syndrome need not imply precocious reading.

I am very near sighted, though; and I usually wear soft toric contacts to improve my eyesight. Right now I'm wearing glasses, though, because I'm about to go to bed; it's about 3:55 A.M. here as I type this.

Heredity also plays a part, my father was also nearsighted and was wearing glasses from childhood onwards.
