First off, I'm glad you were helped by a doctor. :) Putting your faith in a doctor is like Russian Roullette because not all of them are up to par and sometimes you can be more harmed than helped by them. Putting faith in man/woman is always fickle. They change, they move around, they answer to HMO's and legalese and in the end, when it's your life on the line and you need a dr. in the am. who are you gonna call?

Regarding the innoculations - there's zero proof that polio even exists today - and for just as many *diseases* you get shots for there are 10 more cropping up every year that have NO preventative or curative immunization. So, what's up with that? Not even mentioning the toxins - watered down viruses that are deposited into a baby's body- and how exactly does that effect the nervous system throughout ones life - i.e. are immune disorders the end result of having too many medically induced viruses lying dormant in the bloodstream and organs? I'm thinking yeah. Big time. And have got the documentation (articles and movies) to enlighten you. Just ask for the links.

Question: if you don't put your faith in doctors, who can you put your faith in? I would have died of a ruptured appendix when I was 12 if it weren't for modern medicine. If I'd entered the hospital even a few days after I did I probably would have had heart failure because of electrolyte disturbance or something before the infection ever killed me. I know many others who have had their lives saved by medicine as well. I realize that a doctor is not the be all and end all of healing, but still, they know a lot and it's not wise to dismiss their opinions or their aid out of hand. Someone who only believes in homeopathy and follows the latest trends in natural healing could be considered a "sheeple" as well. The most important thing is to do your own research and make your own decisions.

And innoculations? Ever heard of small pox or polio? I don't think all the innoculations we get nowadays are necessary, but some of them are real life-savers (or were in the past- since we don't get all the same innoculations now).

People who have non-traditional beliefs can be sheeple as well. A number of new age beliefs are incredibly hyped, so someone who just follows the latest new age fad without doing their own research might also be a "sheeple." I think you're a little narrow-minded in your definition.

I second what LostInSpace, and LadyMacbeth said.
I have never understood the need to fit human beings into social categories. People are too diverse to fit into neat little categories. The ones that try to fit a certain group by closely following rules annoy me, but not as much as the ones that feel it's their duty to go around pointing out the "fakes" in society. If you're happy doing your individual thing then you'd be too busy to be paying attention to what others are doing.
Baaaah!

If you know how to sweeten it up just right, it can be super addicting.

Since when did buying cheap food even though it's bad for you make you a sheep? I buy cheap food because THAT'S ALL I CAN AFFORD.

Then I guess you just don't know that there are healthy alternatives to purchasing food in a supermarket/grocery but require a tad more effort and maybe even some humility - I'm thinking Freegans and farmer's markets at the end of the day. Being poor doesn't have to spell ignorance and bad health habits either for that matter. Just getting some basic information about coops, markets, farms could make all the diff between eating crap and eating the way the body needs.

I get inoculations because I don't want to DIE. What's wrong with that?

Who said you were going to die if you didn't get a shot?

I read newspapers to find out what goes on in the world I LIVE IN. Doesn't seem like a following action to me.

Because people with political and social agendas write for newspapers, giving you their perspective on *news* when in fact they do not tell you the entire story from all angles. They tell you what they want you to know and it's upon that reality that you yourself formulate an opinion. Newspapers write to sell copies, they entice you with what they think will make you buy their brand. They give you bonuses in the form of coupons and *helpful hints and recipies* so you'll be sure to be a repeat customer. Heck they even have *funnies* to keep you entertained while on the front pages tragedy and corruption unfold delicately.

Seriously - if you want to know what's really going on in the world from the people's perspective you get your info from numerous unbiased sources - on the web. Drudge comes to mind - but there are others. Personally I read about 10 diff sources and formulate some kind of opinion but only after study, verification and just plain discernment based on my own knowledge. I take no one's word for anything and it's not news till I've seen it with my own two eyes. I don't trust *sources* - I trust resources.

If I'm not supposed to put my faith in doctors, who can I go to when I need help medically?

You. Yourself. 99% of the time you can heal yourself. And you are your own expert on your own body like no one else could ever be. 99% of all tests are needlessly conducted. 99% of all medication is not warranted when there are alternative herbs, diet changes and excercise that could help if not cure - whereis if i recall correctly there is not one medication out there that has EVER cured anyone of anything except a swollen wallet.

Pop music is POPULAR by definition. So if it's catchy, we like it.

Who's we? As in we the sheeple? LOL

Quote:
Commercial music by definition is any music that makes money. So only poor bands are good? Despite the fact that band that are good sell more records, and thus BECOME commercially successful, and POPULAR (see above). Unless you're referring to commercials in the sense of advertising.. in which case, OF COURSE we do. They're made for that in mind. Doesn't mean we're going to buy the product.
[/quote]

Popular by the industry's standards that sell you glitz, sex and adrenaline in a shiny jewel box or nifty i tuney download. It sells because there's a payoff for you. Popular music is designed to dumb you down and distract you with *beats*. The video just added another level of commercialism where they now shove fashion, trends, politics and immorality in your face so that on all fronts the consumer is hooked on a feeling and has *gotta buy that CD* to be cool, with it, down with it, being accepted and other emotional needs. On a purely musical level there's little there to feed the soul, unless of course you'll go for junk food. Because that's exactly what it is for the ears.

Kool-Aid? Really?

Like I always tell my brother, you worry about yourself and I'll worry about myself. If you want to judge, do so silently. The world, "sheeple" or otherwise, does not want to hear it.

Every source of information has its biases. It's the reader's job to figure out what to believe for themselves. If they want to believe what they read from one newspaper, that's their prerogative. However, going online isn't going to get you away from bias, it's just going to show you new ones.

No. But in numbers there is diversity, and within that diversity you can find truth. Not in the dark recesses of tunnel vision and bias.

I'm sorry. Please provide the data which would substantiate the notion that modern *science* ever cured anything. Thanks.

You can't remove the quotes around "**Nonsensical Drivel**" just to take a hit at me and still expect to be taken seriously.

True. That's not what you initially stated, though. Being unbiased and being diverse are not the same thing.

You're the one making a claim against something that is generally accepted as fact thus the burden of proof is yours, not mine.

Do you believe everything you're told?
Did you drink Kool-Aide when you were a child?
Do you live your life vicariously through TV shows?
Do you believe what the FDA tells you?
Do you follow authority figures blindly?
Do you read newspapers?
Do you believe in Democracy?
Do you put your faith in doctors?
Do you follow fashion?
Do you *follow the crowd* because it seems right even if it feels wrong?
Do you hum commercial tunes?
Do you buy cheap food because it's on sale, even though it's unhealthy?
Do you believe that innoculations are a great necessity?
Do you listen to *pop* music?

1. lol not bloody likely
2. I don't even know what that is... is it a brand?
3. Not really
4. Nope
5. Nopers... although I'll admit I don't look into their motives much either...
6. hmm I don't... I don't think that's a good thing though.
7. Not really
8. I guess I do on this one yes
9. No siree lol
10. Nope
11. Sorta but I get bored ok!? :D lol
12. Don't find myself in that situation
13. What does that mean?
14. I don't lol. If it's the every once in a while decent *pop* I may but I listen to what I like.

Are you serious?

I just responded to just about everything you said and all you do is say that I'm looking for an argument? The thing to do would have been to ignore that particular statement and continue on through my post. And I'm the irrational one?

If you can't have a proper debate, then don't post debatable things.

In other words - Do you feel that the amount of immunizations a human being is subjected to since birth are warranted and necessary?
