In another forum I used to participate in (which was full of NTs), I was accused of being a "Troll."

I never meant to be a troll. From my understanding, trolls are people who post just to provoke people and get negative attention.

I did not post "just to get attention", yet people called me an attention whore.
I did not post "just to provoke people", yet people got angry at me anyways.

What did I do, exactly, that apparently caused so much trouble in that forum? All I ever did was express my viewpoint in debates, which, unfortunately, tended to differ from the opinions of the majority of the people there. Sometimes I asked questions about things I did not understand, but apparently everyone else thought it was "common knowledge." Many things that I considered "common knowledge", people were clueless about!
I tended to take things seriously, and didn't get many jokes, many of which were at my expense.

My typing style is, as you can see, unsually grammatically correct and pedantic. I try to avoid spelling errors, punctuation errors, and capitalization errors. I try to make my posts as clear and as detailed as possible, to avoid confusion. I do not use much abbreviations or contractions, for the sake of clarity. If I ever find a mistake in my post, I will edit it again and again to make sure it is correct and clear.
People misunderstood my frequent editing as "Trolling" as well.

People hated me and falsely labeled me as "Troll", just because I behaved differently from the majority.

Oh, that is so funny. How do you get banned from Home & Garden TV? Did you get passionate about something you said you had made?

I can't even remember what prompted my original banning from HGTV. Surely it was because I called someone to the carpet about something I perceived as being ridiculous or wrong. So many of their threads deviate into personal issues- they don't have a random discussions forum so it's all supposed to be pretty much on-topic.
Come to think of it there was one instance where a participant posted pictures of his/her living room and there were numerous deer heads hanging on every wall. I think my comment was something to the effect of, "...well, except for the dead animal carcasses staring down at you I think you did a lovely job with your living room..." kind of thing. Those kind of forums are more geared for bragging and fishing for compliments than getting any kind of real feedback: Very un-Aspie friendly. :D

Without the italic text you so thoughtfully added, I would have taken your post seriously.

What kind of person does that, what are they called?

Your post is Exibit "A", a display of mental superiority.

It looks like YOU'RE the one casting the first stone. Troll much?

You might invest a moment to look into the person at which you cast your words. Inventor is one of the members here I respect the most, who has taken more time and thought in his responses than most would even consider. I find it strange how easily we toss about accusations and labels here.

CK, I'm the same way.

Ephy, that site is a hoot. There have been occasions where I didn't even respond to a perceived provocation, just posted the link to the appropriate flame warrior.

Your post is very precise and intelligently written!

It is hard for me to know when I am offending people. I have to learn when to shut up and how to respond constructively.

This is a good skills topic for me, actually.

If I dislike someone, not only do I not care if I offend that person, I also seek to do so.

Erm...not too good with character development in stories. Maybe I do act as "Devil's advocate" but I mainly see it as pointing out hypocrisy and contradictions and double-standards. Not sure if its trolling or not.

like debate. joined debate league sophmore year of HS when it formed and 3-year veteran. freshman in community college now.

Not really argumentative. Maybe I am or can appear that way. It can be "intellectual stimulating" to simply read the things on it. Debates can be fun too.

Quote:
# Unperturbedness amidst controversy and lesser response to emotional demonstration in others

hmm. it depends. in some debates yes i can be calm, in others i might not. depends on the experience I have. when younger more emotional.

It depends on if people start flaming/talking s**t or not, my pre-existing immunity to that and knowledge of it (as in if i get jumped like im in compton and didnt know this i might get s shutdown irl with heavy flaming/douchebaggers out of nowhere, but it depends.

Quote:
# High verbal intelligence

do I? maybe. I dunno. Apparently my vocabulary is good so :P

As an add-on; I know another person with AS who is a troll and trolls, raids, etc other sites, is knowledge on f*****g people up, etc. one of his usernames is thelostcup. He eve trolled one of his best friends, because he got a fat black woman as his girlfriend...google him ;)

He's a senior or so in HS or so now and similar age.

oh and I don't troll. Well I have trolled people IRL with debate arguments ("nuke africa" "n****rs are animals" denying the holoaust in front of a jewish judge, etc). But that's policy debate, so it's not trolling it's allowed by the rules. though people complain about it. Also 'trolling' is something that's well...a broad category. Arguably being aggressive or having weird responses in debates can be considered 'trolling'. Well yes fine what I did in policy debate IS trolling technically as it is to get a rise..well more than that was my objective, it makes it easier to WIN as they aren't expecting that mode of attack

little or no evidence to counter makes it easier for me to WIN 8)

EDIT: oh and I did this, though that was accidental, I thought they'd like the joke. but yes that technically is 'trolling' under a wide def.

one of the guy's reactions :P

one guy wanted me run over by a bus and wanted digg, reddit and 4chan to rape me :P

I have been following this train wreck caused by Warsie and must say that banning is not enough.

He must be turned in to the Police and FBI for a thorough ass raping. Mike himself should sue Warsie for using his site for illegal acts, pain and suffering, and what ever else Mike can get to stick in a Civil Court.

Everyone who clicked on that link should come forth and get together to launch a class action lawsuit against Warsie.

Since Stravo, I believe is an attorney himself, he should be asked as to what actions if any can be pursued.

Warsie's avatar should be removed (its very f*****g annoying anyway) and his sig changed to "I like Rick rolling people to the FBI, costing people their jobs, and I am a closet Pedophile. This is my e-mail address (followed by his e-mail address)"

He should also receive a custom banned title that reflects what he did.

P.S. I have three daughters and child pornography is something I take a very dim view on. This sort of s**t ruins lives forever.

not as if i lastmeasured them or goatsed them....

Very entertaining. Very funny.

I counted 93* different Flame Warriors, the common Troll being only one of them.

I shamefully admit I did if someone on some other forums would get me going BUT I wouldn't be the one to start up! But I was the one to keep the fire going after someone started up with me... and they deserved it!

Trolling is a choice. It's not the same as being literal or hotheaded, or half the other things you list. Trolls deliberately try to start flamewars. Inadvertently getting involved in them, or inadvertently starting them, is not trolling. I am starting to get the impression that some people use the word "troll" as a shorthand for "I don't like this person". :?
