Does anyone know of any good resources in Houston, TX for Asperger's?

I've finally gotten tired (and severely depressed) from being called 'annoying' (and other things) when I strive to not be that way.

I'm thinking that perhaps it would help if I got some guidance.

I have not been clinically diagnosed as having asperger's, but its pretty obvious that I suffer from it.

I just found this web site...

I get sensory overload around people, panic attacks, had a tortured childhood of being constantly bullied because I was different. I have to struggle every day to 'fit' in. I don't intend half the things I get accused of.

It is wearing me out and I'm starting to develop a deep hatred of people as a result of everyone always assuming the worst about me. Rather than assume I'm shy, I get called arrogant. I get accused of being "shifty" or lying because I have a hard time looking people in the eyes. People see someone else completly than who I really am.

Perhaps if I acted a little more 'quirky" people would get the drift that I'm just different.... not a shifty or arrogant person.

So, should I just let go and stop trying to be like everyone else and let it all out? Or is that just a quick route to being fired and ostracized?

Here's one I saw:

There's probably more out there.

Or you can just hang around this site and vent, it seems to be doing me some good.

There aren't alot of resources for adult aspies in Houston--what little there is is mostly geared towards children. The meetup group that zghost kindly suggested is unfortunately not really active. There is a more active one, however:

Aspie

They have informal support group meetings once a month for adult aspies.

If you find any more resources, please send the information my way as well.
