Does anyone know whether those with NVLD demonstrate hand flapping at a young age or is it only observed in autism?

If someone was diagnosed NVLD and had hand flapping, I would question the diagnosis. I would say HFA or AS. I ASSUME LFA/MFA is out of the question, as that would likely be a diagnosis excluded before NVLD.

I thought I'd ask just to see as I read somewhere that people with NVLD do and may be wrongly diagnosed with AS. The article was written in 1994 so it is rather old and much more research has been done since then.

Hopefully, next month I'll find out whether I have AS or NVLD - neurologically I fit the pattern of NVLD and my mathematical and visuo-spatial ability are very poor but I did hand flap and had special interests from a very young age according to my family as well as this there is also autism in my family, so who knows. :?

Not everyone who has ever hand-flapped, bitten/hit themselves or headbutted the floor/walls is automatically autistic.
