Is there anyone who doesn't get humor or has troubles understanding it but yet you can still understanding parodies like watching Scary Movie or Date Movie, Not Another Teen Movie?

I get the humor in Scary Movie and I got the humor in Mafia and Spy Hard. But in order to get the humor, you have to have actually have seen the real movies to know the humor in the parodies. Like I have seen the movie Scream so I got the humor in Scary Movie but I didn't get the humor about the notes Cindy was getting and the guy they hit until I saw I know What You Did Last Summer. As I watched it, I recognized the scenes from Scary Movie so I knew they had made fun of that movie too.

The rest of the Scary Movie movies, I didn't get the humor because I had seen none of the movies they were making fun of but still thought the scenes were funny. But I have seen The Village so I got the humor in Scary Movie 4 when they had a scene in it making fun of it but didn't get the humor about all the robots attacking and the clown face. I only saw the movie once so forgive me if my information wasn't real accurate. I also got the humor they did about Bush.

I find the movies you listed rather lame, but yes, I "get" parody humour.

I like parodies, but the Scary Movie "trilogy" is dumb.

Those aren't exactly 'quality' humor movies (although that doesn't stop me from laughing my postoffice off), so I wouldn't judge your sense of humor by how you respond to them.

I have seen all the movies listed, and yeah I "got" them just fine. They are okay as far as a cheap laugh goes, but I prefer something a little more intellectual. Oh and the robots attacking you mentioned are from "War of the worlds" and the clown face is from the "Saw" movies.

The Zucker Bros. movies (Airplane!, Naked Gun, etc.) have a very straightforward form of humor.

The only thing I didn't get was when in one of the Naked Gun movies, and in Police Squad (the TV sitcom that inspired the Naked Gun movies), Lt. Drebin offered someone a cigarette, the person said "Yes, I know."

When I was 14 I saw Mafia and lot of unrealistic things kept happening in it like the kid swimming across the ocean, being put in the donkey's ass, the girl's boobs growing bigger after the kid makes a wish, when this little boy runs, stuff falls out of his pants and how can all of that stuff fit inside, especially a shovel and my brothers had to keep telling me "It's a joke" and I got told "This whole movie is a joke, it's not meant to be real, it's all meant to be funny."

When I was 15, I saw Scary Movie and I kept asking questions about it like how can Drew Decker live after being hit by a car and not be hurt. How can Gail Hailstorm shoot one of the high school students and not get busted for it, she did it right in front of everyone and my brothers had to keep telling me "It's a joke" "it's not supposed to make sense" "They're making fun of Scream so it's supposed to be dumb" etc.

When I got older, I quit being baffled by those movies because I have learned, they're parodies, they're supposed to dumb, they're not meant to be plausible, realistic.

I suppose my attitude about the movies I had is typical for an aspie because they are logical thinkers and they are so logical, things have to make sense, they are also literal too so they think things have to be real in movies too, if it's not real, they don't like it. Like cars don't talk, animals can't talk so a young aspie might not even watch those movies or shows that involve those. Also the fact we lack sense of humor, would make it harder for us to understand these type of movies because they aren't logical, they are too confusing.

I remember seeing one of the Naked Gun movies when I was 13 or 14 and I saw the scene where they made fun of Jurassic Park except it was a different title and instead of the t-rex, it was a huge person on crutches. I think it was Jerryasic Park. I didn't get it of course. I was wondering, how can there be a giant, why is there a giant, how did it get there? Now I just know, it was a parody, it was meant to be funny, it's not meant to make any sense. Those questions I had are trivia, they're irrelevant.

The scene that featured the old man on his walker was called Geriatric Park. The term "geriatrics" refers to health care for senior citizens.

Airplane! makes me wet myself laughing, because it's an incredibly skilful, clever movie beneath all of the silliness.

(And of course, there's the immortal line: "I am serious - and don't call me Shirley.")

Stuff like Meet The Spartans, on the other hand, simply makes me weep that there is actually a market for such lazy, low-brow, dull-witted "comedy". And makes me cry blood that its buffoonish writers are being described as "masters of the parody"...
