I wouldnt run it, i would just help out. If your stuck running it and something goes wrong or you cant handle the pressure or something, your stuck going into meltdowns yourself.

wouldn't that be the blind leading the blind?
I'd be an awesome teacher, though, with my amazing charisma (intimidation skillz) and authoritive (tyranical) voice. 8)

If they were ALL autistic, no problem. If I had to run a mix with NT's I wouldn't do it. I'll tell you, though. It would be interesting!

I would say that you use lots of social stories to introduce them to situations. Then you start introducing them to the real situations. You also work on things like techniques to control meltdowns. Simple coping techniques, like always carry post it notes, etc. Work on modeling social things like facial expressions, tone of voice, conversation, etc. It's not hard. Just think about all the things that confuse you and how do you cope. Then you show them how to do it.

It would depend a lot on what level the kids are functioning at. For instance, do they speak? Do they use a communication board? Are they communicating effectively at all? Can they perform basic hygiene and self-care tasks? Can they follow simple commands? Are these the kinds of kids who need to work on pragmatic skills, or kids who are still mastering basic requests?
