Its a well known fact that most fish/shellfish contain high levels of mercury, and that mercury is a big factor in causing autism, so I was wondering if its bad for aspies to eat seafood, and if you do, do you feel more autistic with the more you eat over time?

That's a bag o' s**t.

I don't really care anyway, I love fish. I'll not worry until my social skills get me to start having a one-sided conversation with the fish on my plate.

Mmm, I could really go for some Chilean Seabass now that you mentioned it...

Ehhh, never been much of a fan of crab/lobster though...a little is okay, any more than that and it just tastes sick.

(Medical science never fails to crack me up.)

I would worry more about water pollution when eating seafood...

I like seafood, but didn't eat much of it when younger because my mother doesn't like it at all.

oooo, poor choice of phrasing, I think :S "do I feel more autistic?"
I detest seafood, so I wouldn't know "if I feel more autistic" >.>

I'm not a big fan of seafood. But I like crab, certain brands of imitation crab, shrimp, salmon, and tuna.

I've never eaten a large amount of seafood or largely ate seafood over a long period of time. And I've never noticed any strange effects from seafood, usually I get the feeling that seafood is clean and good for me, I feel sort of refreshed. There are some "seafoods" I've tried that I couldn't eat a plate of without feeling ill, like gator tail and frog legs, but that's rare and it's possible the food wasn't prepared properly. In the case of the frog legs, my brother said they didn't taste right, he'd had frog legs before.

I've always heard that seafood was a "brain food" and actually helps you out. Anyways I still don't like fish.

I have a severe adverse reaction to fish and shellfish, so I just stay away from it. If you consider 'more autistic' to involve your stomach voiding all of its contents, than I suppose so.

Health ramifications/implications are irrelevant when it comes to my taste & texture tolerances & preferences. Have never been able/willing to consume seafood (not swimming fish nor crustaceans nor shellfish nor caviar nor kelp). Blech ! No offense to those who like the stuff, know it's supposed to be chock full of nutrients & healthy oils.

Doesn't matter to me that there's carageenan (seaweed) in toothpaste & ice cream-I don't notice it in those products. Mere smell or sight of fish makes me feel ill-guess I'm strange.

That sounds weird.
I don't like seafood so I can't really help, sorry.

I do wonder though. I wonder there are any autistic fish.
