how would you socialize without actually leaving your house?

Would you have a telephone network, oh wait, a lot of you can't handle phones, so perhaps a carrier pigeon system.

How would you moderate it? Would the mods have a 22 rifle to shoot the pigeons out of the sky?

I'd play more video games. No video games? I'd play more D & D. Without the internet, my social life would be even sadder.

D&D is supposed to be fun?

I always thought it was lame.

It's really easy for it to be lame. It depends on the players. A lot of players get so focused on the rules and rolling dice that it becomes tedious and boring. It can be very fun with fun people. My Dad is awesome.

I guess I'd more regularly go to places where I might be able to find flyers for various events, since I wouldn't have the computer to rely on for updates and such.

Dungeons and Dragons. It is the first tabletop roleplaying game to really take off and gain popularity, and is still one of the most popular role playing gaming systems. I am an avid role player. Not a LARPer. LARP = live action role playing. Role playing often gets bad press because of stupid people getting drunk and doing unrelated things.

I think role playing is one of the most fun things to do. It's an obsession of mine. I realize that I gave a pretty poor description. People are always confusing role playing with something weird and unrelated, like devil worship. I get that way too often.

Sorry, I'll stop rambling now.

yea it kinda does sound lame. Why don't ya just play a game of tonk or poker. But I do agree that people would think that's is weird though because it's something that they aren't used to.

Chess club.
Card playing club: bridge, canasta, pinochle, poker, etc.
Book club.
(Warm weather) The front porch, a few neighbors and some lemonade.
Dinner with a couple of friends.
Pen pal.
Watch a favorite TV show together. Take turns hosting.
HAM or CB radio.

HAM radio is like for old-school nerds like my grandfather.
Never liked book clubs, would always argue with people over what anything meant.

Chess Club is evil, they cheat and they like pounding new members.
Rest is okay.

I love D&D. Without computers, I'd play D&D and Magic the Gathering with my husband for the rest of eternity.

I probably wouldn't have a social life. The limited social skills that I have now were practiced online and taken into the "real" world.

Have YOU ever SEEN the video games that were out before the microcomputers? They were simple games like PONG. At least I don't THINK that had a computer. Trying to make a game like QUAKE, or even invaders, would be so incredibly complex that I doubt anyone would even consider attempting it.
