HI
Last week i went to my doctor. I was put on concerta 54mg about 3 months ago. I am still on it but now she wants me to take ritalin 10MG but split it to 5MG and take it at 4PM. She says concerta lasts 9 Hours or so although it claims 12 Hours. Is this alright Since concerta is a form of ritalin?

If you ever have questions about the mixture or dosage of meds you are taking, ask you pharmacist.

right except it has the potential to flip you into mania or psychosis and it will over the long term cause your concetration and cognitive skills to degrade.

Why change from Concerta to Ritalin? Is it going bad with Concerta in some areas? Side effects?

As for Concerta being a mild form of Ritalin? I've never heard of it, no idea if it's true. I just know that: You take Concerta once as day and throughout certain doses are released for your body to absorb. With Ritalin, you just have to take it twice (or thrice) a day to get the same effect.

I didn't understand that about splitting it up though. You'd have to split it up of course, but I don't understand how the professional said to split it up. Twice a day? Something about 10mg for 1 day? If you're on 54 Concerta right now a change to only 10mg Ritalin sounds quite odd. The 54mg Concerta dose would equate to a lot more.

In small doses it can help people who otherwise cannot function without it. Meds have side effects but sometimes they're worth it. It's like the clozaril my brother takes for his schizophrenia in that regard. The stuff makes him put on weight and has some awful side effects but without it he suffers constant horrifying hallucinations and thinks we're demon imposters.

thats not true people cant function without it. These drugs produce dependance. I wasnt talking about side effects. I was talking about toxic main actions. DRugs like clozaril kill people. Very often traumatic experience trigger psychosis. has he gotten therapy? Also it has been found that a problem with fatty acid metabolism will cause psychois wich can be corrected with b vitamins. Further drugs usually play a part in becoming psychotic. Consider getting him naturopathic treatment. its much more effective non toxic side effect free.
psycotic symptoms have been linked to gluten casien allergy.

fact is these drugs have no medical value and noone needs them

and these socalled diseases dont exist http://www.antipsychiatry.org/schizoph.htm

I hate taking drugs. I haven't found any drug which helps with my AS yet. My doctor said that people with ASDs are more likely to have a bad reaction to ritalin than the general population. This is because people with ASDs are more prone to tics or tic disorders. I am not allowed to take ritalin because I have Tourette syndrome and it will make it worse. If you are worried about what you are taking ask someone why you need it. Is it necessary? What side-effects might you get etc.

as is not a disease.
for as consider naturopathic treatment like phosphotyl serine and acetyl-l-carnitine and b vitamins and fishoil and c and e.
