I just got back from my choir concert. About halfway through I noticed that I was stimming (twisting from side to side). I had no idea up until then that I was doing it. It was not good!

Any tips for controlling this when it needs to be controlled? I just have no clue I am doing it!

Yeah, I know the feeling but I have no advice except that calming oneself before the event may help. For me verbal stims are an issue too, I inadvertently make small sounds....

I would suggest to do something with your arms or hands that people can't see, or something that they can see, but looks like your doing it to the beat, so it fits with what your doing and looks natural and normal, almost like counting the beats with you hands in a barely noticable way.

lol this just reminded me of my first communion (somehow). i remember seeing a video of it when i was young, we were about 15 in front of the church, everyone was standing still and i was the only one wobbling left and right, and i seemed to be extremely itchy that day, i never did like dress clothes.

Ha, funny memories.

when I get really exited happy or sad I flap allot, and when supper happy I do make sounds,
in my last job I at times worked around many people, they thought me strange because of this,
and the more I noticed the more stressed I got about it and flapped, thank god I was able to leave
now and then and go work out side away from people, I tried to notice my self and not do it, but its so natural,
and what made it worse is I used to be around someone who did the same which made me feel free to be my self,
which made me worse about doing it.

I usually tap the side of my uniform dress I don't think it is terribly noticable (I do, however, stand on the front row). It helps keep me calm and I am pretty sure that the dress covers it up (it sort of ripples at the skirt level, know what I mean?).

I am just so worried because it looked like our teachers (we have 3 who direct/play for us) seemed to be keeping an eye on me...like they noticed.

So frustrating!
