^I'd suspect to. My auditory and short term memory is atrocious. I do however have a good long term visual memory and re enact moments which happened many years ago quite acurately in my head.

It happens to me, too. It's terrible when we're given verbal instructions in class and I have to ask the teacher to repeat themselves. When it's written I am fine. So annoying!

I have to keep re-checking my purse because I keep forgetting if I have enough money to buy certain items.

I'm like that too. I have to check to make sure I've turned things off, put things back in my purse, and write down things because I forget them so quickly. Like last night we were taking down the Christmas tree and I was handing my mother the ornaments. I forgot three or four times during that period which ornament I was supposed to be handing her.

That sums it up for me too, but I also have ADHD so is it autism or ADHD or both?

I would say both, but the symptoms for both are similar so it's hard to determine. I've met some people with ADHD that I have had similarities to, like poor concentration, poor working memory and even reading/spelling mistakes seem similar.

I remember an IQ test where I had to remember numbers in the right order. I did ok until I had to remember more than 8 numbers.
So you have both good short and long term memory? That's pretty good. I've been into loads of trouble just for not having a good short term memory.

I have a good long-term memory (remembering things from childhood, etc) but a very poor short-term memory. If someone asks me to do something, I have to immediately write it down, or I'll have forgotten within - literally - minutes.

I believe that at least part of my problem is that I find it difficult to impossible to remember things that I don't have an interest in. Even if I know that it's something I should remember, if I have no personal interest in it, I'm highly unlikely to.

Yeah ti was like they would say 5 6 7 8 9
You have to repeat it in order or numerical order sometimes letters are thrown in. My mt said most kids don't remember parts of the test. I actually remember the whole test and some of the answers I gave.

Hey, I always wondered why I was so good at memorizing facts, biological terms, and that sort of thing if written on paper, but so terrible at remembering verbal instructions.

it could be adhd as well. I have terrible short term memory. What helps me is that I use my cell phone to remind me.

Yeah, my rote memory is fairly awesome, the main thing that's helped me in school. My long term memory doesn't work unless someone asks me a question.
