Statistics show that four times more males are diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome than females, though I suspect that's only because it goes unnoticed in females much more often.

Males are encouraged to be very uniform, so it's more obvious when someone is abnormal. Females are encouraged to be more individualized, so much like many other matters of behavior, AS probably goes undiagnosed extremely often.

Anyway, yes, I'm male.

The 4:1 ratio only applies to those with a formal diagnosis.

It may actually be 2:1.

I suspect it's actually close to equal, but girls are better at faking. Although if there had been awareness when I was a kid, I would have been diagnosed for sure, instead of not until I was over 40.

I'm female, wasn't diagnosed until my forties, too.

I'm a chick.

My theory is that girls are better at hiding it, because (warning: generalization coming) I think we have better social skills naturally.
