More specificly for having to endure your stimming... I can't help but wonder what the people who live in the room one floor below mine think about my constant need to tap my feet, and there being no carpet... I don't think it is that loud, but unless I am typing or doing something else highly stimulating, I am tapping my feet nonstop... Today is worse than most days, as I have forgotten to take my ritalyn, and that reduces my stimming. At least I haven't felt as bad about stimming since I found out more about that aspect of AS...

If they haven't complained to you then maybe they can't hear it from downstairs. In my experience most people complain immediately when things aren't the way they want them.

Maybe you could put a throw rug, or even a folded bath towel (if you think you need more thickness) at the chair you usually sit in just to decrease the noise, since you're concerned.

And no, I've never felt bad for stimming. My mother used to hit me for it and pretty much killed any concern I had for her feelings. I felt like I was doing something I needed to do and didn't feel guilty. You seem nicer than I was - definitely more considerate

My husband does that. It drives me crazy, and I didn't figure it out until just now.
It shakes the whole room, and he acts as though he doesn't know he's doing it.
My first reaction, years ago, was that he needed to go to the bathroom. That's so weird, I didn't know how to react.
Then I realized that it was something I didn't understand. He had no explanation. I complained a little, but not too strongly. Annoying as it was, I figured if I didn't understand it, I should leave it alone.
Then I found out that his mother just yelled at him and that he was able to stop. After years of putting up with it, that really pissed me off.
Now, after reading these posts, I don't know what to think.

No, they don't. There's still a lot wimps and gullibles like me in the world.

How well do you know the people downstairs? Are they the type to complain? Is your tapping limited to a time of day when it's not so bad?

I have never met them, don't think they would complain. I tap whenever I am awake, and not doing something stimulating. I also tap relatively lightly, unless tapping with my heals. I also tap my fingers on the desk.

I can't say that I do.

If people don't like how I am, they can remove themselves from my presence. I remove myself from the presence of people who I can't be around.

Seems a bit harsh to get them to move flat though?

It annoys me. I realized I stim a lot but never notice it. It really annoys em when I am anxious and tap a pencil and someone takes it off of me or tells em to stop banging my fingers on the table. I doa lot of finger stim stuff. Or when I touch someones soft shirt out of desperation and they yell at me after calmly explain my sensory issues.
