Has what you perceived to be normal caused you to be accused of trolling on a chatroom or forum? I find I get accused of trolling all the time, except here, and a lot of it is unintentional...

i wonder about that a lot

aspies are least likely i would think to be actually trolling since the last thing we're likely to do is put ourselves in other people's shoes for the fun of it

i guess that's why i do my best to seem as sincere as i possibly can in every single post + apologise in advance
(and seem completely neurotic, but if that's what works for other people then i guess it'll have to do)

I’m always being accused of trolling on forums, including once on this one when I made a thread in the maths section on weather people think 1 is equal to 0.9_. I’m mainly being accused of trolling on other forums though, and there is one particular forum that I seem to be only getting non stop insults from for no reason.

I have never intentionally trolled (eg said things intentionally to piss people off or made up stories just for kicks). Everything that I say is truly what I am really thinking or the account of what really happened.

I was accused of being a troll or a faker on a previous (NT) forum. I was always asking them to explain what they meant/give me more details or a specific example and I guess they thought that was pretty ret*d. I also didn't just accept their advice as the god-given truth - I would question it and say what I think about it (which to me is not rejecting it, just considering it's value. I may end up following it eventually. But not without a thorough dissection) and apperently that really pissed them off.. ? I'd also share my opinion that was often contrary to the majority and that made them angry because I guess I was being rude and insulting people.

Also apperently my stories about my marriage were never believable to them..

They were a very snotty and condescending bunch. I like it so much better here :D I feel like this is a place where I can truly talk about anything that I feel like without the risk of being judged or insulted. Sure there's some misunderstandings and tussles sometimes, but at a much lower rate than other forums.

^^
mitharatowen, that described almost exactly what I experienced at a forum I used to participate in.

I would just describe what happened in my life sometimes, someone accused me of being a compulsive liar and a troll!
Perhaps it's because my experiences, or the way I percieve them, is vastly different from their own lives and perceptions, most likely due to my Autie-ness.

Some people accused me of being pretentious and thinking I was superior to everyone else. They never gave a clear reason why they thought so.
My guess is that I usually use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as vocabulary that is apparently advanced for my age and educational level. The other people really hated that for some odd reason.

Whenever there was something I didn't understand, I would ask for them to clarify what they mean. Big mistake, apparently. I'm supposed to automatically read their minds!

Sometimes I woud post something that I thought was very simple and obvious, and other people wouldn't get it at all. But instead of asking for clarification, they would instead misinterpret my words and make absurd assumptions of what I mean. When I try to correct their misinterpretations, or otherwise clarify my own words, that would only piss them off some more.

I really like WrongPlanet so much better. You guys are actually sane!

i am rather naive and new to forums. i do not even know what trolling is! can someone explain?
reading the other posts, i have got very, very angry and expressed that, on WP. BUt i have always been honest in my views. I don;t know how to be anything else - that's why i end up in so many dud situations - even my AS pscyh said _ "you are so honest aren;t you?" " I said "yeah, because i do not have the ability to lie."
but i do not intentionally say things to piss people off and i do not like to bait people and be nasty for the sake of it.
i have seen it done and it makes me sick.

I have been accused of trolling on I2 because I joined there and started talking about my fetish. At least one person here thinks I'm a troll (unless he just said that to piss me off) so who knows how many others think I am too.

What is trolling? Is it someone who tries to pick fights on forums?

Sortof... Its like stirring sh** up when it doesn't need to be, but not always in the form of starting fights... I'm sorry, I really can't do a good job of explaining it...

^ For the most part, that is correct. It is someone who says things intentionally to annoy or anger others or someone who makes up stories that are untrue to lead on other people because they think it's fun. A couple of entries recieved from a Google define:

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online ...

A troll is a user of a newsgroup, forum or message board that posts messages with the intent of inciting an argument or flame-war.

trolling - Deliberately posting false information in order to elicit responses from people who really want to help.

Trolling is the action of maliciously baiting someone into doing something that would violate the terms of service or with the intent to create discord among members participating in a discussion.

That would be why I get constantly accused of tolling... I am always off topic, as that is a part of who I am.

I think this is the one they were accusing me of.

I agree, it has been the friendliest place I have ever been, though I'm not that of a forumer, I find it interesting that this is the only place in which I post constantly.

That's part of it. Trolling is also making posts to start fights, start a drama, get people all upset. Sometimes it's unintentional. People have made posts here in the past and people would get upset by it but that member didn't mean to start a fight or a drama or get people all wound up so I dunno if that would still be considered trolling.

Sometimes people troll in a friendly way such as sometimes on yahoo answers, someone will ask a stupid question just to see what responses they would get. I doubt they are actually that stupid so I assume they are trolling just to see how people would respond to them.

A troll can also post a bunch of spam to get people all upset or just the owner.

A troll can also bully someone and enjoy putting people down and being mean to them. Saying mean stuff to them just so they can fight back so they can say meaner things to them.

I wonder if it's considered trolling to pick a fight with your bullies or dumb asses on forums? That's something I like doing. Instead of just getting upset with them, just turn it into a game like mess with their minds and have them think they are getting to you and act all upset and stuff and say mean stuff back to them or comebacks.

There are different ways of trolling.
