Oh millie, I envy you so much.
I love painting but never got any real training until my very last semester in college. I was so overwhelmed with joy in that class that on one occasion I stayed up 2 nights painting round the clock for 48 hours. It was intense and intoxicating. I've wanted to start painting ever since.
I have a full set of oils and want to paint some more but don't know how to get started.
I loved the oils so much but the problem is that I'm allergic to a lot of heavy metals and non-transition metals and I had to wear some special gloves while painting because at first the skin on my hands burned and fell off when I started painting.
Without a good evacuation forced air exchange system, like they had in that studio, I don't know how to paint indoors without getting sick.
I do have a set of watercolors, but the watercolors are nothing compared to the intensity of the oils.
Congratulations on selling your paintings. Wow!
Do you have some works posted online?
i am a bit like strapples in my love of chemical smells. in saying this, i have been hospitalised with what they think was cadmium poisoning and turps fumes a few years ago. I have to have frequent breaks because of fumes.
Please paint.
you know...i started painting again when i got clean. i just painted again as i had before the drugs took control and one thing after another occurred and it is a real blessing.
that is why i believe fervently in people trying to make their special interest/gifts their careers if they can.
and if not - to live in a realm that is as special interests/gifts driven as possible.
i think - for those who have really deep special interests/gifts - a lot of pain can fall away by immersing ourselves in them.
so please paint.
or whenever, do what makes you happy. because the chances are, trying to fit into the normal world will not.
