is the times people actually tried to be my friend and I was a jerk.

I didn't know I was being a jerk, but that is what AS does.

Hi KevinLA,

I think everyone has some regrets like that, whether they have AS or not. Don't be too hard on yourself- I'm guessing that you'd experienced rejection in the past because of your AS that made you wary about accepting friendship too easily.

I always try to learn from those sorts of experiences so that I don't make the same mistakes again. I'm NT, but I've made my share of friendship mistakes too- I think most people have. Try not to feel too sad about the past- it's gone. I'm sure you'll have other chances to make friends in the future, so be ready to grab the opportunities, ok?

Best wishes, Jenny.

I wasn't realized until late 30's. For me, looking at the destruction and what the books say about long-term relationships.

I told one long-time business friend: "It is the definition of a clinical a**hole" ;) You really can't help it. If you aren't willful or evil, you have to face that you are a turnoff.

I think it doesn't help that society was climbing to an all time level of shallowness. that seems to be reversing....
