I've had a similar experience with the getting lost and the executive dysfunction. I remember 3 years ago I went to a camping trip with guides and I was ment to go to some part of the camp to do "target shooting" I didn't know where it was and even though I asked a few people for direction I was still lost and I wondered round for ages and I went back into nthe tent and was crying for ages because I was frustrated with myself and i was looking forward to the target shooting. And I also relate to the swinging, I love swings and I do feel like I've developed slower emotionally, physicaly I was an early developer buy emotionally I feel like someone 5 years younger.
The thing that makes my story different though is I have been lucky with friendships.

I didn't learn how to properly dress myself till High School.

I feel slightly inspired to do a video rambling about my own personal experiences growing up but right now I have been keeping my A.S. videos on the downlow because I am worried about them being seen by my parents...not that I don't want them to know...I am just incredibly self-conscious around them...

Thanks everybody! After I finished, I thought of all the things I left out, like playing with toys in unusual ways, etc. I'm glad you watched it!

Yeah, i guess i have high functioning AS, so it wasn't caught until about a year ago ( currently 15 ), now i look back at some of the issues i would have, and how i would ask for help, but known of the help, was "helpfull", and i can litteraly run a time line of everyday and point out all of the signs; i never saw Kind of suck, because i now have school phobia, but going back to the main point; i can relate to nearly everything said on that video. however i am glad that it may get easier with age, my life right now is not a very pretty painting, hopefully i can get alot of white-out and re-do the picture

I found myself nodding at quite a few of your anecdotes- especially the lunch time one and the emotional development ones.

Thank you for the video. I relate to so much of what you said. I am a 41 year old woman and I have only recently learned that I am AS. I talked my way out of so many phys ed classes that my teachers started making alternate arrangements for me. In high school I took up long distance running. It was perfect for me because it was solitary, there were low-traffic roads (I lived on a farm), and I could go out for hours, alone, on the pretext of taking my dog for her run.

Hey White Tiger Dream, very good video. I also related to a lot of the things you said (in fact, nearly all the things you said).

I wasn't diagnosed with AS until my last year of Primary School (in fact, when the disorder was first made official I would've been around my first year of Primary School), so my childhood was a confusing time also.

I was diagnosed with "weak muscle tone all over my body" (that's how they explained my lack of coordination) when I was about 3 or 4 I think. At sports even when I was trying my hardest teachers used to think I wasn't trying on purpose.

I used to spend the vast majority of my time reading, and every lunch break I would run off and read somewhere. I was also incredibly lonely but was bullied and couldn't seem to make friends. I also loved swinging. I used to get lost and confused a lot too, and often ended up locked in classrooms or left behind in places.

I think what you said about 1 third to 2 thirds of the age is pretty accurate, I was diagnosed as "mild" and these days generally I am around to just a bit over 2 thirds my actual age - I often feel like a 14-15 year old.
