My brother is severely autistic. If something makes him upset, he can run a fever as high as 102. He is not ill. When he is no longer upset, the fever goes away. Is this typical with severe autism?

It's hard to say, but I will tell you that it's possible for a person to work themselves into an actual hot sweat when upset, so raising your body temperature is entirely possible. But 102? That's a huge amount, and more than a little bit dangerous.

I don't know about severe autism, but last night I had a fight with my best friend over email, and I started to feel "hot and cold" like with flu. I was feeling ok in the morning, though, it was just cos I had been upset.

Come to think of it, I often develop flu-like symptoms when I am sad.

My temperature goes up after I've been crying a lot or otherwise highly stressed. I don't know it that's strictly an autistic thing or if it happens to most people. It doesn't go up to 102 though - only to 100 or so.

Happens in others without actual autism. I overheat very fast when angry.

Am also severely autistic but dont think it's related to the severity.
am get high temperatures often-related to meltdowns,'incidents' and seizures, and have had convulsions because of it going to high.
Autistics commonly have a problem with managing body heat, and feel the heat more than others [though this doesn't go for all,it's just a common shared problem],so these could all be adding to it.
