Lumping people together
Ok this is a bit of a vent. I am so angry....
Is it just NTs that lump people into catagories and judge people in relation to that catagory?
For example, they see social workers as incompetent, uncaring idiots, when the reality is that there are some extremely nice, caring, supportive social workers out there.
Or they state that one particular local company or organisation is "unfriendly" when in fact it consists of a variety of human beings, some friendly, some not.
Why do people depersonalise individuals in such a way ? Do Aspies also do it? Why does this make me so angry? I'm a naturally trusting person I admit, and like to see the best in people and I point out when I have had a positive experience with someone at a particular organisation, yet some cynic points out "Oh yeah right, that's the flying cow. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them."
Ok someone has had a bad experience, fair enough. But why judge everyone the same? Can't people see that organisations consist of lots of human beings with different personalities?
Organizations are seen as conspirators. It's important for everyone to be nice and friendly if they do costumer service work because often the CSR is the face or voice the customer puts on the company. Some customers are forgiving and will try another if they come across one that's hostile. If the other one is hostile too, well, that makes the company look even worse to the customer.
Let's say one customer gets turfed around to five different reps and they all have the same attitude. Then it resembles a conspiracy!
Whenever I get frustrated with a particular CSR which is rare but it happens, he or she transfers me to a really friendly rep so I am left with a dichotomic impression of the company and most likely won't tell people they are rude and uncaring.

Yes, you are, in fact, doing it when you refer to us as Aspies.

I think it's human nature to categorize and stereotype. It's a way to simplify processing of our environment to wrap our heads around it. Otherwise our world would be completely chaotic.
You have to be really careful, though, about passing judgement or making broad assumptions. This is where people get into trouble.
But, yes. "Aspies" are equally guilty (at least some of them) of "NT bashing."
People naturally put things into categories. It's a way to understand and live in a very complex world. If you didn't, I would imagine it would be hard to make sense of anything, for me it would be almost chaotic. If you have the same type of experience enough times with the same group of people it's natural to stay away from that category and try something new. People navigate to things that are rewarding, several bad experiences motivates you to seek out better ones. Survival of the fittest kind of thing I suppose.
I mean no offense, this is just an observation...You started out your message asking if it's just "NT"s that do this, and continue using "they" until you get to your next to last paragraph. This can be interpreted that you are putting all "NT's" into a category and asking whether they do this only, or do aspies do it too (aspies being put into another category). My first impression is that you did exactly what you were upset about. I think people do this naturally, and often don't realize they are doing it even if their intention is not to. I don't think that was your intention, but it could be interpreted that way.
I agree with you...everyone is unique and deserves individual consideration regardless of their culture, race, neurophysiology or where they work. There is so much diversity in this world it's unfortunate that people catagorize others because everyone is so different and unique, even though we all have so much in common. I often wish we would find life on other planets. Maybe that is what it would take for this world to come together
My ASD shows in that I have grave problems with the process of categorisation.
I pretend to do much better though haha
