White lettering on the small sign, attached to the right of the chimney stack: "X3769" (and also, much less clearly, on the sign attached to the front of the engine's boiler, just below the centre).

^No. I meant I can't see any image at all. It's just a tiny box with an X in it.

Ah, right - I thought it was a bit odd that you couldn't see the number!

I'm not sure what's going on there, but I've seen this happen with a few images posted to this thread. Most times, one of these works:
1. Quote the post as if you were going to reply and just preview it instead - the image is displayed Ok and if you then use the browser "back" button to return to the post in the thread, the image is present (or a page refresh makes it present).
2. Quote the post and select/copy the image URL between the img tags, then paste it into a new browser window where it should display Ok. Meanwhile, in the other window, use the browser's back button to return to the post and force a page refresh - the image appears.

For some reason, when WP tries to access certain images it fails to work from some locations only (ie. your PC) unless the image is accessed from the same machine by something outside of WP - say, using the URL directly in your browser. Once that's been done, WP is now able to display it too.
That image I posted has always been and still is visible from my location, but there have definitely been others which won't display unless one of those two tricks above are pulled.

Meanwhile, this...
