it reminded me alarmingly of my own deer versus bicycle misadventure in 2012 which hospitalized me for a week and nearly bankrupted me.

He died in 1226.
The prayer can be traced back only as early as 1912, when it was published in a Catholic magazine , La Clochette.

Actually, Desiderata was written in 1927 by an obscure Indiana lawyer and poet named Max Ehrmann. Sources include: The Washington Post, November 27, 1977.
