Greetings all. Just finished picking and chopping this years grape harvest. 125 kg which will make around 20 gallons of red wine. :hic:

Yes, all welcome. The wine is usually ready to drink by Christmas. I need to leave the grape pulp / juice for 3 or 4 days now for the pectolase and campden tablets to do their thing, then it will be time to press it all extracting the pure juice and adding extra sugar to get the specific gravity up high and adding the wine making yeast. Have to leave it then for a few weeks to ferment before syphoning it into demijohns to "rest" in the cellar.

It's not really a cellar. The house came with an underground concrete air-raid shelter in the garden. A relic of WW2. It isn't very big but great for keeping wine cool and at a constant temperature. The wine is popular with relatives and known as "falling down water" on account I make it around 18 - 19 % alcohol.
