for final relief

So, does anyone else try to do this to a beat, or just with the rhyme's own internal beat?

in terms of "beat" it is for me some variant of the classic ABAB or AABB rhyming scheme.

Deep in your heart, deep in your soul.
You know your life's struggles have taken their toll.

But, you've still got that flicker, that glimmer of hope,
For one brighter day that transcends all you've known.

You'll find what you've looked for, to love and be loved,
The wisdom of knowing, He watches above.
The joy you have brought, if only you knew,
Please don't leave too soon, whatever you do...

For your words, your heart, they touch the soul,
And friends live forever and ever I'm told...
In this life and after, they journey beyond,
They meet in the middle, when life's light is gone ...

Depends ... sometimes purposefully to a beat, but other times, totally without, depending on how I'm feeling ... whatever flows naturally...
