Alopecia & Effexor

Hey all,

I was curious to ask about if anyone else on the medication Effexor (Venlafaxine) has experienced hair thinning/loss/alopecia as much as myself.

Granted, hair thinning is hereditary and I've accepted that, but surely I'm not supposed to start losing my hair for another 3-5 years? That's what happened to my father's hair anyway, whom I'm a spitting image of. Albeit, less nastier as a person etc.

Anyway, aside from GP advice, are there any recommendations to at least trying to thicken my hair again whilst on the medication? I'm on a 225mg dose, and it helps anxiety and stress levels, but not the Depression at all. Blood tests conclude nothing physically wrong, so it's all psychological.

I tried one product (Head & Shoulders), but that didn't seem to work.

I'm aware that it's been listed as a side effect, but am wondering if there's anything to prevent all my hair thinning and falling out in larger chunks?

Sensible suggestions welcome.
