Calling people stupid, dumb and or ignorant while representing autism advocacy is itself just as one says of those who do not understand. A local parent did this saying it in a presentation. Immediately after I said I would no longer support your group should you do it again. By far my autism and DD opportunity and awareness organization is more well known then there's but I've achieved this by garnishing respect by being respectful and inspiring.

Why insult the public that pays for programs and those you would like to understand. Sometimes I believe advocates while able to garnish the mutual anger of other advocates are doing so while compromising the goal. Risking while doing so the advocacy mentality of others with name calling and put downs.

I've also corrected professionals, individuals without autism and so on. What do you think? In my local area thousands are aware of my advocacy innovation collecting nearly $20,000 a year from the public employing others with autism and DD. Right now I am waiting on robotics equipment and the opening of a direct facility for work endeavors.

thats true.you will not get anywhere advocating going around calling people ignorant.advocates cant afford to alienate.the advocates themselves often have there own ignorances as well.even if the ignorance is true if you want money and want to raise awareness you must not bite the hand that feeds you.i may have a big mouth but i have never claimed to be an advocate.im just a scumbag looser who fits in at westboro state hospital.i have serious doubts about whether the asan is realy a sincere organization.you also wont change ingnorant minds by ofending them at the begining

The California Lanterman Act exists primarly to remove individuals with DD from institutional and into the community. As for as ASAN I am not exploring that topic anymore. I think enough has been said and most organization have room for improvement.

Most people fit in with people with mental illness. Everyone is human and so are people with mental illness. People you could volunteer to be a friend of people with mental disabilities like a pen pal.

Public school is a horrid place and it is something I will always remember. Freedom at last freedom at last.

Autism Speaks and ASAN in my offline awareness and agenda is not even considered. The Autism Speaks parents that I know are also part of ASA or there own local charity. They are lovely, scared and just wanting the best for their children. They cannot really be judged the same as either groups. Sometime when I advise it is tough love and for the best.

I don't think that calling people ignorant gets you anywhere. Not only does it cause conflict, but people will be turned off and refuse to listen to anything you have to say.

That being said, Autism Speaks is a horrible organization and they need to be called out on their BS as much as possible. You just shouldn't be an a**hole about it. And if you're going to Godwin the discussion, you should GTFO, because not only will you piss people off, but you're trivializing the deaths of 12+ million people just to give your argument some emotional oomph.

Here are the problems with Autism Speaks:
- Most of their money does not go to help autistic people; it goes towards salaries and fundraising.
- They demean people with autism and in one video, a higher-up in the organization talks about wanting to kill her autistic daughter
- Instead of helping autistic people, they just throw money at trying to find a cure. There is never going to be a cure for autism, so the best thing to do is improve autistic people's quality of life and educate the public.
- They go after autistic people who criticize them
- None of the people who work for them are autistic. They should really be called "NTs who claim to speak for autism"
- When it comes to abortion and prenatal testing, I am pro-choice in all circumstances and I think that prenatal testing is helpful. My objections to Autism Speaks have nothing to do with abortion or prenatal testing.

I found that the CDC site even mentions Autism Speaks and that a cure has not been found. It may be that government recognizes the organization and that a cure might come into being for some aspects at least. I am just not getting what is extremely bad about them at the moment. I never realized this because I am stuck on my primary interest and not autism. Some people seem to have autism politics as their interest. I am only on this forum to see about the fuss and have concluded no risks exist in my public relations despite some really big jurks being online at times.

I feel I have nearly wasted a month of my time and think Obama made a mistake with Ari and don't know if he knew about the games being played. Ultimately government would want positivity for people with autism and I think Obama was thinking this was the case with Ari but Ari and ASAN makes so many mistakes in advocacy they ruin themselves. Therefore perhaps Obama like he has for others appointed someone from the opposite political party to as a gesture seeming the anti-cure and anti-prenatal testing politic.

I am thinking perhaps Obama had it recommended to him about Ari and did not know of the damages he and ASAN would end up causing to those with autism. Nothing wrong with positivity. However positivity used for politics is politics. Ari and ASAN is a political organization and in real-life there are real needs and changes to be done and the politics he and others are using is just wrong and misleading.

The End.

i wanted to clarefy why i agreed with criticism of autism speaks, but i dont think there a bad organization.they are run by parents of autistic children.it is hard to be a parent in general in todays world and even harder if your child is born different.autism speaks sells snake oil but they sell snake oil because they realy believe its right.the parent that buy snake oil from autism speaks buy it out of desperation.i believe autism speaks sincerly cares and that is what matters.dont ever take for granted parents that love there children.as for are ne eman and the asan i dont know very much.i never cared much for advocacy anyway

I guess I will have to write the ASAN write-up. I just don't want ot right now. I got a world to help change and not be distracted by despondency. I will be back on this forum with updates on my projects and PR issues as well as some social related studies..

I will never support an organization that supports a mother who was going to kill herself and her autistic daughter, but didn't because she has, thank God an NT child at home who desperately needs her. Nor will I support an organization that views incontinent people as being ret*ds who ruin lives for their families and get nowhere in life.

Your going to find the potential horrible things here and there with any organization like the mother that said those things. However in day to day behavior it cannot be proven that they support that mothers behavior in others. Some people will say horrible things to get attention as well. To me that's not enough evidence to make a judgement on the entire organization. I need more evidence.

For someone like me to oppose an organization like Autism Speaks I need evidence and trends of behavior. All in all I have very litle interest in Autism Speaks. More people know of what I do in my area then about Autism Speaks by far. I can assure you if the likes of that kind of awareness was in my area with a mother saying those things the papers would if I asked them have it reported. I've done so for far less things with the papers support. The public does not like that sort of thing either. Got to find balance with all of these concerns.

Can you post the video of this mother?
