See the link below for an article about American Idol, which mentions WP and a particular thread discussing James Durbin. I would have tried to come up with something more insightful to say if I'd known I was going to be quoted somewhere ...

Yep. There is a difference between treatment awareness and this however. If you take everything personally about autism it's going to ruin your mind. There is news stories about people with a form of ASD that also happen to be criminals as well. The world ain't perfect and no one is perfect even those without a form of autism.

Glad to see the media focusing on something positive for a change.

I'm kind of dreading the lashback though. If 'all those Aspies' do rally around him and vote for him, and he wins, you just know someone is going to call foul. Someone with a 'disability' shouldn't be able to win just because his community voted for him. I'ts not 'fair' to the non-disabled who are there trying to win on talent alone. Reverse discrimination is always a fear of mine...

I agree about good news. I know the bad news is often important and relevant, but it is good to have good stuff too.
