i have no problem with bashing autism speaks.if you want to call them nazi's, a cult or evil.i consider this valid political speech.no more comments about licking balls or sucking private parts.here is the thing,someone could see that and view it as sexual harrasment and sue wrongplanet or even the poster themselves.recent legal rulings have broadend the definations of sexual harrasment.ask herman caine.any references to lude sexual content could be construde as harrasment unless its in the adult forum

IDK why sexual comments would be connected w/ autism speaks? But I will admit, if the group was suddenly destroyed by any means I'd smile and jump for joy .

Frankly I think it's incredibily insulting to lump Autism Speaks with Nazis. To equate what the Nazis did to what that group does trivializes what happened in the holocaust. Is Autism Speaks misinformed? Absolutely. But please don't water down one of the worst human tragedies of the last 1,000 years by comparing a bunch of misinformed soccer moms to the party behind the holocaust. It makes us look bad.

You have a very good point.

I think the reason some people have made that mistake is a fear that a group such as autism speaks or some other group may eventually try to eliminate us as a group in the future... or at least try to prevent more of us from being born. But a debate over this issue would take forever.

HERE IS THE POINT.i dont care what is said about autism politicly.but using dirty language and sexual inuendo has gotten out of control.wrongplanet or even you could get sued for that

Mind if we cut out the word Nazi from the acceptable part? As a person who has been on the receiving end of an insult involving the word Nazi three times I can say that it simply feels cheap and unnecessarily hurtful.

Two words deter any attempt to sue (if their PR department is intelligent enough), Streisand Effect. Try to sue an Autistic over a few bad words can likely turn the issue viral throughout the Autism Communities and if anyone else on the internet cares, the internet at large. Never draw crowds to your critics online by trying to suppress them with legal threats.

look all i was trying to do is to get lude sexual talk off of the political forum.whether a law suit would be succesfull is beside the point.the rules of posting clearly state that lude sexual talk and talk of porno or fetishes is banned on all but the adult forum.i personaly dont think autism speaks are evil a cult or nazi's but i defend political speech.if someone call you personaly a nazi thats different.if that happens contact me imediately

I doubt vermontsavant was trying or indeed abetting any such things. Furthermore the streisand effect is more effective when the person in question is reasonable in what they were saying, not just gabbing off like a moron.

Fair point, but it's still not a good idea in a PR sense to attract attention to even moronic ramblings via legal action.

But I do agree more sensible dialogue needs to be applied though and avoid the Godwin, so I'm not arguing against that. Just saying that if someone gets a bit heated and called them Nazis for instance, they're relatively safe from legal retribution. I just wouldn't slag off and spread malicious rumours of any of the board of directors, now that will definitely warrant a lawsuit.

True, but this isn't strictly a legal argument. What vermontsavant is saying is that mindless antipathy is not good for anyone. I have been on the receiving end of comments by people like that, whilst defending tambourine-man from it no less. I don't think I should have to have truck with people who tell an organisation to lick their b***s just because it's easy.

im sorry if my mention of legal action was inapropriate.my brother is a lawyer,freudian slip i guess.i grew up in massachusetts the law suit capital of the universe maybe i was paranoid.regardless the feelings of female aspies WILL be respected

I'm about sick to death of this endless argument and am certainly tired of the childish animosity, name-calling and hatefulness it brings out.

I am very grateful that Wrong Planet has moderators that are willing to put their foot down. Over on AFF you can say just about any nasty and terrible thing you want so long as you show no support for Autism Speaks.

Thank you for maintaining civility. I wonder if all this childishness could continue if people were not hiding beneath the veil of anonymity.

If your going to make obnoxious, and hurtful personal attacks at least have the decency to reveal yourself. It is pretty cowardly to do otherwise.
