I'm just wondering if there are any autistic comedians? Stand up or film?

I suspect that Steven Wright may be an Aspie although I have no proof, other than a collection of his Quotes. Here are a few:

"Officer, I know I was going faster than 55MPH, but I wasn't going to be on the road an hour." -- Steven Wright

"What's another word for Thesaurus?" -- Steven Wright

"If you can wave a fan, and you can wave a club, can you wave a fan club?" -- Steven Wright

"You know how it is when you go to be the subject of a psychology experiment, and nobody else shows up, and you think maybe that's part of the experiment? I'm like that all the time." -- Steven Wright

"You know how it is when you're walking up the stairs, and you get to the top, and you think there's one more step? I'm like that all the time." -- Steven Wright

I've done amateur stand-up comedy for many years, and gauging the audience reaction did quite well at it :)
I observed others performing, and did my own routine - just had to work on the modulation and such which I did through speech therapy. Also I had to watch that my humour was not too "highbrow" which I'm sure is a bit of a challenge for those on the spectrum :)

I think Dan Ackroyd is more towards the acting than comedy end.

He's better known for his fascination with supernatural phenomenon than comedy. Besides his AS is only very mild, I only knew about it after getting diagnosed myself and I am a pretty knowledgeable about Ghostbusters stuff.

I see Ackroid as a live audience comedian with SNL. His movies were all ignorant, but hey....

I have Asperger's and performing standup comedy is my main passion in life. A lot of people seem to think Asperger's would hinder my comedy, but I maintain that living with said condition has rendered me quite adept at walking around talking to myself while people laugh at me.

I dont understand that either. Whether intentional or not I think Sheldon Cooper is one of the funniest fictional characters at the moment.

I'm just what Tony Atwood says in his books...no good at jokes (I know, and therefore covet, ONE joke). Excellent, however, at puns and wordplay. As an aspie, I don't like crowds. As a musician, I love crowds (because we're able to stand apart). so, I can see a aspie comedian as he, too, is 'separate' from the crowd . Like Hugh Laurie of "House". He has Asperger's and he said he loves acting because he can become someone he's not. I digress somewhat.

Some guy in Winnipeg has a blog about being an Aspie stand up comic. You can probably google the key words in the prior sentence to find his blog, not sure I recall more details than that.

:D Me! I do some comedy. I have a baby Youtube channel, it is here. It is kind of crap right now, but I am hoping to slowly elevate it out of crappiness. I am hoping to get someone to film me doing actual comedy someday. I will be doing a solo show next year, which is kind of freaky.

I am hoping to make a video about my traumatic experiences with macaroni cheese in the near future.

I've been doing stand-up comedy for about ten months in the Portland, ME/Northern New England area! Glad to hear there are others on the board who share the interest. :)
