I agree. It is important for people to know.
But, in stating that, you expect the popular media to do what exactly?? Publicize complete and accurate facts above sensational tidbits and lurid commentaries that, however harmful they may be to the broader demographic, are technically truthful (no matter for how tiny a swath of the people they're discussing), might get people talking and tuning in??
Keep dreaming. Don't expect help from the media, or the rest of the world for that matter. Be your own advocate, or get good at hiding.
Unless you've got cast iron nerves and a lot of people who will help you advocate for yourself, I sadly recommend the latter.
