I'm a little ashamed of this, actually speaking more than a little bit. I have 32 BA studies in Library Science, and I still have problems tying shoes :( I wonder if it has anything to do with my Asperger Syndrome?

I also have problems making rope knots

In the shoe store I always try to look for shoes fastened with Velcro. :D

I never learned how to tie shoes properly, so I just invented my own way of tying them. Tying isn't an issue with my current shoes however, since they're siip-on.

I used to have problems with tying my shoes, but not after receiving occupational therapy.

These days I have some of those newfangled drawstring shoes.

I think being uncoordinated is associated with autism, yes.

I make bunny loops if I wear lace ups. They come undone at very frequent intervals. Thank goodness for slip ons.

Not now, but when I was younger, it took me a long time to learn and get good at it.

I don't necessarily have problems with tying my shoes BUT I've heard a dozen of times that I tie them weirdly although the end result looks good.

I didn't know how to tie my shoelaces until I was 10. Then my sister taught me how, step by step. I may tie them weirdly now like you, rbp but they don't come undone. I still prefer shoes with alternatives to laces though.

No, but I always double knot my shoes and seeing it for the first time, my wife thought it amusingly weird. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to double knot. Why risk your laces coming undone?
