‘The Voice’ Contestant Will Breman Has Quickly Become a Fan Favorite: ‘I Love Him!’

Quote:
When it comes to blind auditions on The Voice, standing out is the name of the game and fortunately for Will Breman, he did just that … and then some!

During the season 17 premiere of the popular singing series on Monday, September 23, the 25-year-old singer from Santa Barbara absolutely wowed coaches Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton and John Legend with his ~crazy cool~ rendition of the Spice Girls’ hit 1996 single “Say You’ll Be There.”

Less than a minute into Will’s audition, John, 40, and Gwen, 49, were sold! Unfortunately for the “Hollaback Girl” songstress, Will decided to join Team John. After all, the EGOT-winner did hop on stage and perform an impromptu duet of “Ordinary People.”

Beyond sharing his incredible talents with the world, Will also opened up about his battle with Asperger’s syndrome. “I’m on the autism spectrum, I had pretty limited interests,” he explained during his introduction. “Music became my biggest solace and helped me express my feelings in a way that would otherwise not come naturally to me.”

I'll be elated when these publications stop using phrases like "his battle with Aspergers". Pisses me off to the nth degree every time I read or hear something like that. That being said, I hope this guy goes far on The Voice.

Ditto.

I commented on that article saying that Asperger’s is a different way of being and a part of who we are. It’s not cancer. You can comment anonymously, so I encourage others to comment on that too.

There was aspie guy on American Idol several years ago. I rooted for him. He went pretty far, but didn't actually win as I recall.

I believe you're referring to James Durbin. I used to watch American Idol many years ago, including the season that he was on. He had one of the best voices that season, and came in 4th if I remember correctly. He's released 3 albums since Idol and is currently the lead singer of Quiet Riot. I was sad when he lost, and this boring, clean-cut country boy ended up winning.

That type of "inspiration porn" language makes it hard for me to link to these articles. Unless the Autistic person said Autism was something that had to be overcome it is the author's opinion, not fact.
