...the worse the side effects from COVID vaccine?

Someone said that if you DON'T feel unwell after having a COVID jab it means you might have gotten really ill if you had caught COVID (before getting the vaccine).

I know a lot of elderly people who had the jab (first and second) and didn't even get any side effects with either jabs, but I know a lot of young, healthy people who had their first and second jabs and suffered unpleasant side effects like aching and fever.

Obviously it's not the same for everyone but I do see a pattern here. My immune system is strong so I'll probably suffer side effects when I get vaccinated.

Do you think this is plausible?

Had my first vaccine last month. Apart from the usual vaccine ache, nothing happened. I know a friend who had covid and then had the vaccine and had to stay in bed for a day. Other people I know just had a mild headache. So it really varies.

My first jab left me with a sore arm and fatigue for a few days, nothing more.  My second jab is next week.

Yeah, that's what they've been saying, that most of the severe effects from COVID are because of cytokine storm (your immune system going into overdrive and attacking anything and everything in sight).

I've always had auto-immune issues, but COVID was super mild for me...I didn't even think it was COVID, because it didn't match the severe symptoms that the media was reporting. I had a really bad fever for a few days, a slight cough for a couple of days, a little bit of a sore throat, and a tiny headache for one day.

...then it went away, and a month or so later, it brought me all of these wonderful Long Haul symptoms =)

Purely an anecdote: My grandma got vaccinated (old, so probably a weaker immune system) and didn't suffer any side effects. My dad got vaccinated and felt a little weak + had soreness around the injection.

My parents got their 2nd shot last month & they did not have any ill effects. They are both 68. My dad is in pretty good health for his age. He retired like half a year ago from working in construction doing carpentry but will still work a little on the side. He did NOT retire due to his health. The work was getting slow & he's self-employed & only gets paid when he works & the summers in Louisiana get hotter & hotter every year. Summers in Louisiana tend to be in the mid or upper 90s with high humidity & dad worked outside a bit & the houses didn't have AC half the time when he was inside. My dad also very seldom gets sick. My mom on the other hand has various health issues & her immune system likely is not super strong but she doesn't get sick super easily either. She been very cautious to avoid getting the virus & she's still very cautious.

Interestingly, I’ve always had a very strong immune system, and when I got my shot (granted, only one of two, and I hear the second is usually more problematic for people) I had a bit of a sore arm for two days, and that’s it. I think my last tetanus shot actually hurt more. But then again, for most things I seem to be the exception that supposedly proves the rule.

I did have chemotherapy last year, but I’m done with it now and just had a lab check earlier this week, and all my counts were back in the “normal” range.

I'm 60 years old, and I previously had COVID.

I went to work after getting both shots.

After the first shot, I had slight chills and general wooziness for maybe a few hours.

After the second shot, I had mild flu-like symptoms for about 24 hours. I was able to walk 10 miles amid having these symptoms. I went to work like normal; I felt better by about 6 PM of the third day after the shot. I felt my worst during the second day.

Let's see...

My first jab; 3 days of soreness, 2 days long of fatigue and fever.
I was good to go in about 4 days.


Got infected with COVID; Asymptomatic.

Compared with my mom's lack of vaccination.
Weeks long fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, vomiting, loss of taste, bowel issues, weakness, etc.


... My first jab is void and had to retake it again in another 3 months.

My wacked-out immune system has me concerned as it both makes me high risk for covid and high risk for severe reaction to the vaccine.

and then the spiderweb of my mind connects to a nature of saying among the disability and autoimmune disease community on Tumblr when comment about having a weak immune system is made,
"Actually, it's not that my immune system is weak, it's as strong as an ox, it just can't aim worth a damn!"
