I've been doing the GFCF diet for the past 5 months and it has really helped me. Looks like I need to avoid yeast now too. This whole week I've been feeling like s**t and after doing a little research its obvious that I've got a pretty serious candida overgrowth in my intestines.

Anyone dealt with this? I'm going to the vitamin shoppe this morning to try to find some supplements and digestive aids. What else can I do diet wise (other than the obvious answer of avoiding yeast and alcohol)?

The main thing you want to do is avoid sugars. That includes fruit and sweet vegetables. I would up my intake of alkalising foods; you definitely want to eat lots of green leafy vegetables.

If you're hardcore, you might try a garlic cleanse. Raw garlic is a potent anti fungal.

I'd probably keep away from grains altogether for a period.

Candida is one bad little beggar for messing up health.

Reduce overgrowth by anti-fungals (many herbal versions exist, eg Pau D'Arco, oregano, grapefruit seed extract mixes) & Vit C & antioxidants.

Starve the remaining yeast by cutting out sugars & starchy foods, anything with (of course) yeast but also mold risk (cheeses, dried fruits, malt products), mushrooms, condiments or anything with vinegar base. (Tough but short term to get rid of the overgrowth)

Take probiotic supplement to repopulate the gut with good bacteria, as this helps keep the gut yeast in check. Live yoghurts or supplements with a good mix of strains. Digestive enzyme supplements too may help.

Cleanse gut - colonics or capsule cleansers may help if bloated.

Herxheimer reaction is the flu-like symptoms some people get as the yeast dies off & releases toxins. It will pass but means the regime is working!

:( I'm sooo tired. I've been sleeping all day.

I haven't been eating much either... out of fear.

What about apple cider vinegar? I heard that was supposed to help.

I'm taking enzymes and probiotics. I'm also taking MSM and glucosamine supplements for my shoulder, which was recently operated on. After I had shoulder surgery my digestive system went haywire.
