Weightlifting is pretty sweet. I'm trying my best to get into Olympic style lifting, I think it's one of the coolest sports in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwQTeFD0OKQ It was really hard to motivate me from the bodybuilding angle, but the strength angle was surprisingly addictive. I've only been training since about this time last year, with much of this summer more or less off from being sick. That said, my best deadlift is 355, and I've parallel squatted 275x5, ATG backsquatted 235x2. I got weird genetics, I got naturally ginormous legs, and tiny upper body and arms. So my best overhead press is 115, though I've push pressed 150ish. Bench sucks ass, too, it's like 135 or something stupid like that. I can hang snatch like 100, and clean and jerk 155. I'm really working on getting the snatch up, it's my pet lift. I love the snatch.
The reason I started lifting was for figure skating actually, it's my main athletic hobby, and obviously you need a ton of lower body strength. So... I figured the easiest way to gain strength was...squatting. So now I've got a ton of power without technique. YAY! I wanna work my strict overhead press to about 200lbs or so, just in case I ever get into pairs (it seems likely with my proportions...) I'm naturally too heavy to do singles, and it's unlikely I'd cut down under high 170lbs, I'm 195 at 18-20% bodyfat now. So, might be good for pairs.
As far as looks go, I wouldn't mind looking like an Olympic lifter. They look decent. I'm not much for the bodybuilder look, huge arms and chest and whatnot. I always wished I could be like 130lbs, whereas most people wanna get "bigger" which is odd to me.
