Violent Video Games can Increase Aggression
Also think about watching violent media, you have to ask why you enjoy it. With video games some say it's a release. But with movies what is the appeal. I have seen the Saw movies and Evil dead movies (didn;t particularily enjoy the former) but really got thinking what is behind the appeal.
I became aggressive/angry as a result of the treatment I received while playing MP FPSs.
I don't advise those who are on the spectrum to play MP FPS games when they are young.
I have toughened up since then, but boy, was it obscene at the time.
As I said, the experience has scarred me for life.
But then, as Nietzche said: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
I'm still kicking.
I enjoy playing SF2 which is basically pixellated almost cartoon characters beating each other up. I never actually got into FPS too much. It was a lot of extreme emotions over nothing, the bad feeling when one person keeps killing you and the urge to rub it in when you kill said person.
I suppose nowadays the kids are shooting photorealistic people, that could be pyschologically damaging as pepe sez.
It taps into our animalistic/instinctual side.
And yes, it can be cathartic.
There’s the whole correlation does not equal causation factor as well. Questionnaires completed by the subject are notoriously unreliable.
I have been playing, up until recently, FPS multiplayer games for around 25 years.
I am speaking from experience when I say that these games foster very poor behaviour.
Anecdotal evidence.
I could say that I’ve played those games for years. I’m a sensitive individual who hates real violence. THEREFORE, violent video games must foster empathy and compassion.

When I was mismedicated, I experienced uncontrolled anger, wanted just to punch someone in the face.
Knowing it to be a bad idea but feeling the urge, I started playing a violent video game to let off the steam without actually harming anyone.
So, maybe the cause and effect go the other way around. Experiencing urges for agression make people play violent video games.

Violence has been rife since long before video games were invented.
I would agree with this.
Perhaps people who have violent tendencies are more likely to play violent video games for hours and days on end. It doesn’t really mean that the games are responsible, though.
People used to blame Marilyn Manson a lot for almost all instances of adolescent violence. Quite possibly, angsty, violent teenagers were more likely to listen to him on repeat, but that doesn’t mean that Marilyn Manson was to blame (other than for being rather low in musical talent and ability).

That's probably it

1. You aren't a testosterone-filled male.
2. Not all people are the same.
3. To this day I consider 20% of the FPS community to be human trash.
4. I refuse to play multiperson games on PC as a result of the attitude, hacking and cheating.
You do understand how many young people commit suicide because of online bullying, right?
You are aware of "suicide by cop" is a real thing, right?
Violence has been rife since long before video games were invented.
Some parents restrict TV access because of the violence presented.
There are age ratings on video games for a reason.
When I first confronted "Wolfenstein", and one of the missions required the killing of digital german shepherds, I stopped playing the game, period.
After playing FPS games for 25 years, I will kill those doggy f*****s without a thought.

What does online bullying have to do with violent video games?
1. So females are immune to the supposed danger of violent video games?
2. Okay….and?
3. Anecdotal evidence
4. Anecdotal evidence/personal opinion
I guess I’m just confused because I assumed that this topic would be more fact-based.

As I stated above, it can be cathartic.
To suggest, because it is cathartic for you, it means that everyone would react in the same way, is self-evidently faulty logic.
Some say that pornography is bad and ruining society.
Others believe it is a sexual release and is beneficial.
Not everyone is the same.
Some people are more damaged than others.
And you are either ignoring or dismissing, the existence of ritual abuse being used to program people into becoming "Manchurian Candidates".
The wise olf skunk has spoken.
I just suggest it may. Further study required
AFAIK, the main problem with porn is that it's very unrealistic while young people can learn it as instructions... to very painful outcomes.
Similar problem can be caused by massive presence of advertisements. People subconsciously learn fantasies as if they were the reality.

To me, it is obvious that the age factor is the major problem.
Impressional minds can be influenced into embracing unrealistic expectations in the boudoir and expecting unrealistic body types.
Mature perverted skunks, on the other hand, understand "the score".
