I thought about this for a long time and I posted this video on the parents board and asked if I should post it here. If I can help one person.....maybe you know someone who has BP and is an Addict or maybe that person is you. I made this video for my son who I lost in August to an accidental heroin overdose. I am only putting it here, as I said, in the hopes that it helps someone. If you would like to pass it around that is fine. My son always tried to help other people so I think he would have agreed with me. When he was only 14 he saved a younger boys life who lit his head on fire....my son and a bunch of other boys were playing with paint thinner near a creek and the younger boy lit the paint thinner while it was pouring from the bottle and set his face and head on fire. All the other boys ran but my son J.T.. With no thought to himself he grabbed the boy and put him in the creek and put the fire out. The boy was unable to see so J.T. took him home....he didnt even tell me about it. The boys mother told me months after he got out of the burn unit....she told me if it were not for J.T.'s quick action her son would have died. When I asked J.T. why he didnt tell me he just shrugged and said "It wasnt a big deal" I know he was playing it off but he really didnt want anyone to make a fuss over him for doing something that was the right thing to do. He also stayed with a young girl who overdosed who he didnt know when he had a warrant out for his arrest. Again everyone else ran and they let my son go because he waited with the girl to make sure she kept breathing. He never committed any violent crimes anyway, even though he was in jail and in prison a lot. Anyway, for anyone out there and for J.T. here is my video that I made for him. It is also posted on the parents wall.

He sounds like great guy!! I am sorry what happened to your son.
Addiction is powerful, I should know as I have a food addiction that might kill me if I dont get the weight off.
Getting un-addicted is not easy...its like fighting against something hardwired in our brains.

I'm sorry you lost your son. He sounds like he was a great young man, who lost his way. Too many young people fall to the false allure of substance abuse, and to peer pressure from other abusers, or to use for depression, when it only makes things worse. What a waste of so many lives.

At least he left you with some wonderful memories to hold onto, but I wish he was still here with you.
