I'm diagnosed as suffering from psychosis (not been told exactly what I have yet) and I believe that we are living in some sort of Matrix (not like the film, I mean a fictional reality) and all everything is are electrical impulses received by the brain, making us believe that we have a reality. No-one else believes me, but they're not real anyway.

Anyone else have any alternative views like mine? I know mine isn't that uncommon, I know 'normal' people discuss it sometimes but...I was just wondering that's all :)

The tricky thing about what you're saying it's that part of it's true, you do only precieve reality through a series of electrical impulses in your brain.

I do have my own system of beliefs, but I'm not sure what it is, and it wasn't a part of why I was dxed Schizophrenic. I can't talk about it like you do. If I tried hard, I'd phrase my beliefs like this: there's a grain of truth in all faiths, but the world is too complex and chaotic for any particular faith to be true. It doesn't mean there isn't a mystical particle in how I think, because there is. A lot of people have it and can't help it.

I know that we do perceive reality through electrical impulses anyway, but I believe that these are being created by something else, not us or the surrounding environment.

See what I mean? No-one believes me, it's not my fault we're not real.

I don't not-believe you, if it matters. Did you ever see outside the Matrix, or do you hold these views even though you haven't seen proof of it?

No I don't. I just know it exists. That's why there's devices in the walls, recording us all, so they know if we find out, so they'll know that I know now and will get me for it.

Oh, OK, so it's a fairly common belief, though I know that's not much comfort.

I'm fine most days, just spend my time ignoring non-existent people or trying to convince them they don't exist. Hard to do, since they won't accept the truth.

Do you think you have AS as well, re: the ignoring people part?

I have no clue, it's certainly possible, I'm also rather OCD at times. But what does it matter? I don't actually exist. I only ignore other people because they refuse to accept the truth. Not that I talk to many people anyway.

I can relate only to an extent, because I believe people are way too self-important, and a lot of the things people think are essential for life (one often gets diagnosed based on factors like if they have a job, a partner, what they do in their free time etc.), is really not that much of a big deal. Nothing stops me from pursuing any of it, but I could laugh at it.
