Should jails and prisons be called forensic facilities? Being a criminal is a forensic issue, and disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders and specific paraphilic, command hallucinations and delusions are mental disorders.

I don't see how a name change changes the principal of prisons.

That is a rhetorical question, by the way.

Renaming the prisons will not change the fact that they are warehouses for the storage of the worst forms of humanity.

They are already called "correctional facilities". Some are also called "penitentiaries" ( a place where you do penitence). Forensics has to do with "crime detection". Not with other aspects of crime. Not with either punishment, nor with rehabiitation. So your term would be an incorrect usage of the word "forensic". The only advantage to the word is alliteration. The double F sound.

So no. Totally inane suggestion.

Besides, the term "Forensic" as it is defined would be mis-applied to prisons.

The word "forensic" is an adjective (adj) that implies:
1. belonging to, used in, or suitable to courts of judicature or to public discussion and debate; a lawyer's forensic skills.
2. relating to or dealing with the application of scientific knowledge to legal problems.

Prison is where people are sent after they have been through the judicial process.  Courts and crime labs are where forensic science is carried out and explained.

That makes sense. I am sorry that I made an inane suggestion, it was not my intention to be insane.

Not "mentally ill".

You have your moments but there is nothing to be sorry about.

Rewording and "rebranding" to appeal to modern cultural norms is common anyway. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't sleep that well and start to have hallucinations when I am very tired, it feels annoying.

Rebranding is a "thing" they do.

Some years ago I heard a news story on NPR about prisons. It mentioned how inmates are now called "clients".

"Clients" of the prison. As if the prison were a cruise ship, and the convicts were tourists who paid to stay there.

A lady spokesman described how "we train guards how to handle the client, and when to and when not to use force on the client". It came off sounding ludicrous and laughable.

That makes sense.
