I cant handle these feelings right now. My thoughts are jumbled. I keep forgetting what I mean to say. I'm getting it wrong. In fact I haven't been able to talk for an hour. I feel like people are arguing about me. I'm on high alert.

I want to try reading again but now I dont know if I will manage, which is a shame because I have books I really want to read. Reading becomes hard when in this state. I read the same page over and over and still dont understand. I'm exhausted.

I would find a way to get off 'high alert' , use whatever coping mechanism you have - meditation , mindlfulness , self soothing etc

Things may seem better with a lower alert level.
