Personality disorders are diagnosed at ages 18+, where an individual's personality is more solidified.

ASD is a developmental disorder that is present in childhood that may or may not appear in varying ages.

Personality disorder is about the person's genes and their environment related to their behavioral emotional reactions and social interactions with others and their circumstances.

ASD is about their cognitive strengths and weaknesses, their sensory experiences, their perception and perceived contexts regardless of their circumstances.

A person with personality disorders are mainly made.

A person with ASD is born.

I'm an autistic who doesn't have this PDA (demand avoidance) profile...

Only Antisocial Personality Disorder is a known personality disorder that should be diagnosed in adulthood, no other personality disorders mentioned that you have to be an adult to be diagnosed with other personality disorders.

So, technically personality disorders can be diagnosed in childhood or adolescents, but Antisocial Personality Disorder cannot, due to legal reasons.

I can concede error on age, but point still remains:

Quote:
In your opinion, what is the fundamental and/or main difference between a PD and ASD?

ASD is still a developmental disorder. This is more with can, cannot yet and cannot do social related issues or not. Social issues are just emphasized, blurring from whatever personality disorder one might be accused of or misdiagnosed as.

And personality disorder is a personality disorder.
Still more with what they would or wouldn't do, still more to do with the ideas and concept of self and other. Reaction to external and resulted with that. And it's mostly social, emotional and mental.

Anyone with developmental issues can develop personality issues due to circumstances.
And, technically, anyone can develop personality issues whether or not one has developmental issues.

One can get personality disorders due to relationship dynamics growing up.
But one do not get ASD from that.
