what should I do if I'm so hypersensitive to antipsychotic drugs that I can't tolerate them anymore but forced to take them?

meditating and distracting myself doesn't really help.

If I had to estimate, I'd say I'm at least one in 3 million people in terms of hypersensitivity to drugs.

I'm supersensitive to meds too.
When I was given 25mg Quetiapine I could only nibble one corner off the tablet (about 6 mg).
Even then it was too much and so I'd spit out half or just take a couple of crumbs.

Does your doctor know, and why are you "forced" to take them?

Have you done genetic testing?
Sometimes our systems just can't metabolise certain chemicals in medicine.

Have you asked about trying different antipsychotics or other types of psych meds :?: There's lots of antipsychotics out there & some people respond very differently to different ones. If your on an antipsychotic for mood swings or to prevent meltdowns it's possible that a mood-stabilizer might could help instead of being on an antipsychotic or your dose might could be lowered. If your already on a mood-stabilizer it may help to increase the dose or change or add a different one.

Unfortunately psych meds are sometimes a major trial & error process. I've tried over 20 different psych meds including 5 antipsychotics but I've been on a good combo for the last few years. My med process is going a lot better after I started taking a more procative role with my health. Instead of just letting my docs & psychs guess I do my own research, mention various concerns, & suggest trying various things.

seroquel is the mildest that I know of, although it is not generally prescribed for serious psychosis (with some exceptions). I could maybe tolerate 100 mg. I'm extremely hypersensitive to all these antipsychotics.

The reason I know this is that seroquel is the least potent and it still effects me in negative ways, at low doses.

I am hypersensitive to antidepressants and have been wondering the same thing. I can't get past maybe even two months taking the same antidepressant due to the side effects. I was able to do it long ago when I first took them as a teenager but It's very difficult now. Antipsychotics are probably very difficult to tolerate. Great question and I hope you are able to find something that's tolerable for you!

What do you not want to take and what side effects are you trying to ameliorate?
