The Captain Is Out To Lunch And The Sailors Have Taken Over The Ship by Charles Bukowski.

Autobiographical slice of life where Bukowski dwells on writing, his distaste for other writers, betting at the horse track, getting old, and death. Illustrations by Robert Crumb. So far so good.

Perfidia, by James Ellroy.

Crime novel set in LA at the eve of WWII. Racism and corruption are rampant, and so is murder. Familiar characters from Ellroy's other books appear, such as Bucky Bleichert, Lee Blanchard (in their pre Black Dahlia days), Ellroy's affably villainous police detective, Dudley Smith (from LA Confidential), and a host of other characters both old and new.
So far a great read.

I just bought the Hard Case Humble Bundle, and these came with it. I thought they were the novels at first, but they're graphic novel adaptations. Pretty good so far. I watched all the movies years ago, but I've kind of forgotten a lot of what happens.

Just finished Murata Sayaka's book Konbini ningen.

Apparently, it's supposed to be funny. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but it was not funny. It was sad and depressing, even if the ending was somewhat happy... I mean c'mon, all the main character wanted was to not cause trouble for others and to be useful, yet she gets treated like dirt for it! Ugh...

Positiivinen yllätys by Aino Leppänen

English translation: Positive Surprise. Tells the author's own story of how she became a teen mom, apparently.

The Life of Olaudah Equiano; a memoir written by the titular figure.

(It's another textbook for my class.)

Maailmanlopun kahvila by Nelli Hietala

Literal translation of the title: The Cafe of the End of the World

I feel like I can empathize with the main character's life situation, but she's kinda bitchy.
