Are you a musician?

Music has always been an outlet for me, particularly singing and writing and it seems to flow naturally.

So, what about you guys and gals?

I guess I'd consider myself a musician. Music has always been my best friend in some of my worst moments. Sometimes I'd listen to music to figure out what I was feeling because it could articulate much better than I could.

I also went to school for it, can play guitar and some piano, did some songwriting and production work. I don't really do it much anymore. Though I do like cranking my amp and just making up some blues improv on my guitar...can be very cathartic.

I knew a singer/songwriter once who had what I thought was the best definition of musician. She said a musician was someone who has an intimate relationship with music.

I have been going up on stage since I was little. I became obsessed with musicals around the age of 6 or so...I joined a band at the age of 15, and was in that band for 10 years....

My main thing for a long time now has been the ukulele...(see Youtube link below)

A musician going through an inactive period...

i sing (does that count?).
and as for my piano skills, well let's just say i haven't had enough practice.
all i can do is play by ear.

oh yeah; keyboards, bass, guitar, drums, sax, flute, mandolin. Too bad I had to sell my keyboards, bass, guitars, drums, sax, flute, and mandolin to pay bills...

Still, someone gave me a bass and a keyboard, so I'm not dead yet...

Music is my fulltime hobby and part-time profession. So...yes.

Aww *hug* when your writer's block subsides maybe you can use your talent as an outlet for your depression?

yes.. although i haven't touched a guitar in a week due to "OCD complications"

Yeah, everytime I set down to play my guitar, I'm more iclined to forget about my poblems for a while.

I sing to myself all the time. I've sung in front of other people (deliberately, as an entertainment) twice. I'd like to be able to do that, but it doesn't work for me.

I can't play guitar or piano, though I've tried several times to get into each. I just can't manage the coordination involved in playing more than one line of melody at once. I used to play brass instruments tolerably well; only one line to manage there.

I live and breathe music and it breaks my heart that I can't do it more often.

I sing in choir and like to sing myself, I play piano I did learn, but now I'm playing myself, teaching myself pieces, hopefully going to learn the clarinet again and join in a orchestra. I sometimes write stories when I feel like it. I like to paint but I'm not a good artist.
