Hi all! Could someone please give me some advice as to good science fiction short-story anthologies? I enjoyed "The Mammoth Book of Extreme Science Fiction", edited by Mike Ashley, very much, and now I'm looking for a new tome along similar lines. In general I prefer the more extreme, mind-stimulating kind of science fiction, so no run-of-the-mill space opera please.

Thanks!

hmm...I have some strange tastes, and go back quite a ways
There was a 'hell' series, I think Jan Morris was the editor, about famous people in Hell, and it goes on for a few books. Late 70s, I think.

There was another sereies 'There will be War', trying to remember who did it (Drake, Pournelle, or someone like that)

The '1630s' series, Mostly by Flint, but a few other people as well. 1633, 34, and 35, and a few others

Should get ya started.

I am not sure of any anthologies, but I can suggest at least one or two books.

Brave new world (forget who wrote it.)
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray bradbury

I think Brave New World is Aldous Huxley...

Thanks guys for all your replies. I'll certainly check the stuff you mentioned out. And yes, Brave New World is by Aldous Huxley.

Look around for old copies of the two anthologies compiled by Harlan Ellison, 'Dangerous Visions', and 'Again, Dangerous Visions'. --Groundbreaking stuff from the Science Fictions New Wave.
