Anyone wanna get a new thread going specifically for this type of writing? It's my favorite. Who else writes it? What themes primarily interest you?

Of interest to me:

-Totalitarian governments
-Mind control
-Transhumanism

Here's my latest to start things up:

New experimental writing collaboration. 1/20/10. (C) Everything-Permitted. Feedback welcome.

15 Minutes of Privacy

We all wanted to kill what we couldn't understand. That's why we invented the selections for the masses. Their minds were easier to program than a TV set from the 90's. Walking programs ready to receive a deletion. "You mean humans are just programs that are self destructing?" Kelly asked me. She twirled her silver dreads around her fingers and started laughing hysterically. "The problem isn't the masses. The problem is that murder of internet celebrities is no longer a crime. It's become popular to eliminate us. Total genocide of internet fame culture. The kids wanted to leave us some ideological message." At this point my first hit was beginning to sink in like a zombie without a brain to eat. The existential void of this pseudo-reality show. It all started out as a parody too. Had we truly become the new media? The core of the problem was that never before had so many people known so little about so much, so now everything was a target. Except for me.

"So who do I have to f**k to get killed in this city anyway?" I lamented out loud to myself. "Well, how many suicide shares do you have left?" Kelly asked as she absent-mindedly plucked a live cockroach out of her drink and popped it into her mouth. "Nothing. I traded them all for twenty minutes of live podcast time, and every single ass clown who showed up to do the job got themselves killed." I huffed. "Well, what do you expect when you defend yourself? You broke the last guys neck and fed him his own testicles before the feed terminated." Kelly cooed in what was either mock admiration or she was holding back a massive fart. "Kelly, I'm not just gonna roll over and die for anybody!" I cried in desperation. "Dying is special because you can only do it once."

well, I have a somewhat dystopian setting going on for my book. Its not really cyberpunk (its more along the lines of mecha combat involved and such, and there is a dissonance amongst the locations, either they are highly dystopic, or very utopic (or so the natural, unmodiefied humans think. They are the ones in the dystopia and want to change it. I can definately say though, the utopian areas populated by modifieds, heres a spoiler, Just because it all clean and sparkly and shiny, doesnt mean it is.)

As for links...

Sample chapter here ---->>> http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt116481.html

Some details and profiles from the story (be sure to read whole thread as I have details scattered in posts through the entire thread, including a general idea of things and a prologue.) ---->>> http://www.wrongplanet.net/postxf115985-0-15.html

As for themes and stuff that can be of interest to me, Totalitarian regimes, civil war, urban sprawl and decay, discrimination, genetic modification, terrorism, war, social/political upheaval, how far is taking technology too far, stuff like that.

I'm into it. What do you want to do with this thread? Should we contribute to what you wrote or start something original?

Let's have a thread full of this sort of stuff. Post links to your fiction or post it here. I'm trying to post more of this story here but it's not allowing me to. May just blog it. Though people could also add to it so it could take off in a bunch of new directions. I'm game for anything...

I have a remote viewing spy scene, but I'm not going to bother posting it unless it's requested. I didn't type it yet. It's in a notebook. Is that cyber punk? I can't write action well. Action bores me. Dialog and psychology intrigues me. I wish I could write action better because I want that audience.

Remote viewing spy go!

I like the dialog among your characters DemonAbyss10. Feels like I know them.

thanks. You have some nice dialogue going as well, just need to keep the rule that you start a new line whenever it switches between characters and such. Only one thing confused me about it. Is it kind of Totalitarian government controls the media at that point, so the younger generations are lashing out against it?

Yep that's pretty much what's going on in my story... though there's also the twist where the younger kids are scam artists manufacturing internet celebrities too. Everyone is a bit corrupt. Heh.

I'm down for starting something new too. A writing exercise. Someone posts a few paragraphs of a new story in the cyberpunk/dystopia realm and then the next poster adds to it. Anyone wanna start?

"Antibodies" was an excellent novel on transhumanism, I thought.

I guess I will start with something off of the top of my head.

--------------------

A rapid tapping sound had permeated the room, lit up only by the display of a computer. "Heh, seems like I found a way to hack into the new model of control CPUs, maybe I can make some money off of this." A young man said to himself as he finished entering the rest of the code. After he was done he stood up and walked to the window of his small, dingy apartment. He opened the blinds and let the sunlight flood the room. The city of New york had become dingier and dirtier over the years. Corrupt politicians furthering their own agendas, going so far as to institute martial law. Freedoms that were taken for granted years earlier had been stripped away, not just from this city, but from the entirety of America itself.

"I hope I can deliver this program to the revolutionaries soon. So want things to be like they had been in the past. I actually want to enjoy life." He walked back over to the computer and copied the code onto his smartphone and walked on out of his apartment. It was now his intention to fully test his program, hoping it would be able to truly paralyze the vehicles of the government and its military dogs. The only problem? He had to find one and get close enough to it to transmit the code.
