I love Only Time... that song is amazing.

Also, my favorite band is Iron Maiden and I will still admit Enya is awesome.

My husband has no use for any of her music as far as I've ever been able to tell. And he listens to a wide variety. I like a lot of her music, but I fear I am alone among fans in my intense dislike of "Only time"... the repeated use of trite poetic phrases set to her layered musical formula just grates my nerves and makes me doubt her intelligence. I prefer "Shepherd Moons" and "Afer Ventus."

No, you are not.
they did play "Only time" endlessly on the CNN live footage of 9/11. Since then I avoid it.
Grand voice though.

of course I like any other kind of irish music, (Clannad included)

Her music is quite good. I'd probably give her a 7, maybe 8, out of 10. Still, I love most music - it's very rare that I come across a musician who I'd rate lower than 7/10.

That's an excellent reason to avoid it, yeah. I had a couple of songs I refuse to hear for the same reason.

Enya.
Just curious as I caught my brother who's into hardcore rock listening to her. I'm an enya fan myself but then again I'm into all sorts of musical genres ranging from rock to folk to blues to jazz to alternative to techno to...well you get the point.

I made a poll in case any of the fellows didn't want to come out of the closet.

I came out of the closet a long time ago :) Big Enya fan, and Clannad's good too. Have a lot of Enya on my laptop, on my RealPlayer, on my iTunes, and on my iPod.

Need I say more?

I love the music behind the vocals, don't really care so much about the vocals... so it might be that I like the producer(s) for Enya, or whoever it is that works the synths, sequencers, and creates the soundscapes, etc.

Although, if she actually does the computer & synth work, then color me impressed. That's rare. Most singers don't seem to want to make the music, and that makes me quite sad.

It's been said that Enya records up to 80 tracks of her voice, then does a lot of layering of the voices to create a unique sound. Love it personally. I love Orinoco Flow, Caribbean Blue, and many of her other pieces.

I shall explain something. When I say I am a metalhead I'm talking about really heavy metal, not so much Metallica, though I'll listen to Metallica on occasion.

Something more like this.

I hope Enya does a cover of that song.

Not what? A metalhead? I didn't say that. I was just explaining that I tend to listen to the heavier side of metal where the distance from Enya is even further.

That has nothing to do with whether you are a metalhead or not.
