...those are astonishingly beautiful! I'm doing photography as part of my film course, and have done it as a hobby for quite a while.

Pictures made in Belgrade, Serbia where I've lived for a while.

These pictures are a bit older, nowadays I use a Canon 5DmkII DSLR & EF 50, 100Macro and 17-40 lenses.

I also like the use of older, manual focus lenses on my DSLR.

Meyer-Optik Görlitz F/4.0 200mm on Canon EOS. This lens is about 40 years old!

I wonder if more people here use such old manual focus lenses.

I have been using the 1.4x and 2x extenders with a 400mm, so I am rockin manual focus all the time 8) Today I took about 40 shots were I forgot to refocus

In the first photo, I like the inclined horizon. Donno if you did it on purpose, but its makes the photo valuable. I can say that your photos are very aspie-type photos :) Never searched about aspies taking photos but I tend to take photos of similar things: patterns, geometric structures. But I dont usually save them cuz they are pointless to other people.

Well, I see my thread-killing skills are on full display. I think I have enough posts now to try and share some pictues, so maybe I can still revive this one :D

As mentioned above I more about trying to get to beautiful places and then taking decent pictures rather than being a super technically savy photographer. I hike a lot, so most of my pictures are landscapes. While lurking I have seen a few other people say they are interested in hiking, which works very well with photography from my perspecitve, so hopefully they may post some pictures as well. I, for one, would be interested in seeing them.

Sure thing! I was a big hiker for the 4 years I lived in Seattle. I love the state of Washington. I've taken 90% of my pictures there.

Wow! Those are really good. I recognize the area where those photos were taken. Colchuck lake, near Leavenworth, right? I have some from the same area but not as good as yours. I love that place. I'm planning on climbing one of those peaks, either Colchuck or Dragontail in August when I get back to Seattle.

I bought a DSLR camera because I thought I was going to be making a trip to Costa Rica. It's a Sony a200 and right now I only have a 18-70mm (sony) lens. I'm disappointed though, because my pictures aren't as good as I thought they would be plus I can't figure out how to get the pictures onto the computer. (There's no simple USB port on the camera.) I want to be able to take pictures really fast, like of my horse running, but they are still blurry :( I bought this camera to use for fast shots cause my old Canon digital camera couldn't take moving shots.

There's probably a reason for it being blurry. Have to changed the shutter speed on the camera at all? If not, that's most likely why you're still getting blurry pictures. Here's how that works, the lower the shutter speed, the more exposure time, so, let's say you wanted the horse running but also wanted the movement in it, you do a lower shutter speed thus making the horse a blur movement. And with a higher shutter speed, you can catch a still motion of the horse while it's running. For lower and higher shutter speeds, it's highly recommended to use a tripod so the picture comes out clear and not blurry.

Your camera will do everything you want it to do! Taking photos of a fast moving horse isnt a problem. The thing is, getting your first SLR, learning how to use all the seting and when to use them, it can be a steep learning curve.
I suggest for starters, you read the camera manual from the cover to the last page, then read it a few more times as you learn how to set everything.
It should at least explain how to download your photos to your computer.
To learn the basics of photography, using your camera, get yourself a book for your camera. I recommend this,
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Focal-Digita ... 0240811100
Once you learn the basics, how to set your ISO, shutter speed, aperature, etc, you shouldnt have any trouble taking pictures of your horse.

Photography has been a passion for me since I was about 13. But I only moved to digital photography 18 months ago. You can see my pictures using the WWW button below (on flickr I use the user name of Drumully) .

I am not keen on photos that have been overly processed with Photoshop - I just make adjustment using 'Lightroom'

Awesome photos in this thread! :D

I'm not a good photographer, I just recently started and I'm an absolute beginner, but I'd like to learn...
Here are some of my photos: http://ellerfru.deviantart.com/gallery/#Photos
I'd really love to get some critique, because I want to improve! So that would be really nice... :)
