Or favourite minor keys? Mine are D and E and they profoundly resonated with me from the age of 8 when I didn't even know what they were. They really touch base with me emotionally, especially in music written by Mozart and Chopin. Have you had any similar experience?

I for one prefer the minor key. I like the sound of it better. I prefer the sound of the primary chords of the minor key to those of the major. I like the meaner sound that minor key seems to have.

Plus, always being downbeat is a misconception of the minor key. There are many minor key songs that are upbeat. Take a look at the soundtrack of _Disney's Aladdin_, for example. All of its songs except for "A Whole New World" and "One Jump Ahead Repriese" are written in minor key. If I recall,

"Arabian Nights"--A minor
"One Jump Ahead"--E minor
"One Jump Ahead Reprise"--Bb major
"Friend Like Me"--D minor
"Prince Ali"--A minor, then B minor, then C minor
"A Whole New World"--Eb major
"Prince Ali Reprise"--A minor, then D minor

What do y'all think?

Bach's Toccata and Fugue is in the minor key and that's the most cheerful music ever.

Minor Key, Major Keys sound so bland.

I usually prefer playing music in minor because it is accurate at reflecting my overall emotional state.

yes, minor keys resonate with me emotionally too, although I am unsure what or which emotions they resonate with - this may sound silly but I really don't know. It goes to a level of me deeper than thought, it's an instinctive set of responses. I've been in a very long relationship with a jazz musician and he hates minor keys, if he is in the audience at a concert and the minors dominate he gets annoyed and wants to leave. He's very aspie too though he doesn't seem to realise that (or that I am). Do aspies tend to have a favourite instrument? Any polls on that?

it sounds like it's mostly in a major key but it is sad-sounding, nonetheless.

I prefer the minor key...major key is just too happy-sounding for me.

Just about everything I feed Pandora to generate or refine a station, it tells me has 'minor key tonality'. So, I guess I prefer minor keys.

each type has its own place in life. one needs to experience a mixture of both to be well-rounded.

Most of the music I listen to is pretty melancholic. The latest year's Ive been listening embarrassingly much and almost exclusively to Steven Wilson(Porcupine Tree,No Man and just Steven Wilson) He uses major in a way very pleasing to me. I usually get bored with bands. It feels like I cant keep up with other band geeks anymore :( In this case the songs just sound better every time I listen to them. Before that I was mostly into Minor.
I guess i prefer Mixolydian major to Ionian though.
